Robustifying R_CleanTempDir a bit more
Hello, This is probably a very minor point, but R_CleanTempDir may still have a shell injection in it. I couldn't find a way to shoot the user in the foot in a significant way (by, say, accidentally removing ~), thanks to R disallowing spaces in the path, but if Sys_TempDir somehow acquires a value of "/tmp/';echo;'", R_CleanTempDir() will remove /tmp instead of its

BUG: xend oopses on munmap of /proc/xen/privcmd
This is with last night''s Xen snapshot (apr 24th), on kernel 2.6.12-rc3 - but the mess is so horrid that I''m not quite sure how to fix it... This oops prevents xen from starting xenU domains. Basically xend does the following: 1) mmap /proc/xen/privcmd 2) call an ioctl to populate the mmap 3) munmap the mapping created in (1) During the munmap, the dom0 kernel oopses, as

arraytake for extracting subarrays from multidimensional arrays
Hi, I recently encountered a problem with array subsetting and came up with a fix. Given an array of arbitrary dimensions, in which the number of dimensions is only known at runtime, I wanted to extract a subarray. The main issue with doing this is that in order to extract a subarray from an array of (say) 4 dimensions you usually specify something like this a.subarray <- a[,c(4,2),1:5,]

smbmount chooses wrong ip and fails!
.... Is there any way to get smbmount to either (1) continue and try all of the addresses, or (2) only try the 'real' address (in this case 192.168.0.120) ? BTW, if I unbind "Windows File Sharing" from the VMWare adapters on the XP machine, then smbmount works, but I really want to robustify my usage of smbmount so this is not required. Thanks, -Don Woodward

Robust Non-linear Regression
Hi, I'm trying to use Robust non-linear regression to fit dose response curves. Maybe I didnt look good enough, but I dind't find robust methods for NON linear regression implemented in R. A method that looked good to me but is unfortunately not (yet) implemented in R is described in http://www.graphpad.com/articles/RobustNonlinearRegression_files/frame.htm

R-1.6.0 is released
I've rolled up R-1.6.0.tgz a short while ago. This is a major upgrade, with several new features. A few of the changes generate compatibility issues. You may wish to consult http://developer.r-project.org/160update.txt. We no longer ship the set of recommended packages separately, but bundle them up with the main distribution. Thus there is now only a single file to fetch and (barring

Xen Roadmap proposal
...Xen and qemu. Having got save/restore working, live relocation should actually be relatively straight forward, just enabling `log-dirty'' mode for auto-translate mode guests. \subsection{SMP Guests} The current HVM code only stably supports uniprocessor guests, though work is underway to robustify SMP guest support. Xen already contains APIC and IOAPIC emulation modules, but this code along with the existing shadow pagetable code lacks synchronization in certain places. The new shadow mode code should go a long way to solving this. Work is also ongoing to add ACPI BIOS support, hence allowin...

[PATCH 0/9] tools: remove or disable old/useless/unused/unmainted stuff
depends on "autoconf: regenerate configure scripts with 4.4 version" This series removes some of the really old deadwood from the tools build and makes some other things which are on their way out configurable at build time with a default depending on how far down the slope I judge them to be. * nuke in tree copy of libaio * nuke obsolete tools: xsview, miniterm, lomount & sv *
