import file formatted RFC-822
Dear R-list users: I would like to import a database of web robots, http://www.robotstxt.org/db/all.txt, it?s formatted RFC-822, ?how can I do it? The RFC 822 specification defines a standard format for electronic messages, which consists of a set of header fields and an optional body. The headers contain information about the message, such as to whom it is being...

robots.txt best practices
I''d been ignoring this error message in my log for a while: ActionController::RoutingError (Recognition failed for "/robots.txt"): I had never touched robots.txt. So I decided to make it a proper robots.txtfile I found this great article... http://www.ilovejackdaniels.com/seo/robots-txt-file/ ...where Dave explains the ins and outs of the file. Before I changed mine, I thought I''d poll the group to see...

favicon.ico and robots.txt
Hello, I'm running an apache 2.2 webserver on centos 5.3. I'm seeing frequent requests for robots.txt and favicon.ico from the logs those files should be in the document root area. What are these files, is this something the rpm installs, or do i have to retrieve or generate them? Thanks. Dave.

httpd and robots.txt
would anyone out there care to share their robots.txt experience using centos as a webserver and their robots.txt files? i realize this is a somewhat simple exercise, yet i am sure there are both large and small hosters out there and possibly those that have high traffic modify their robots.txt files differently that others ??? please share if y...

4kbps sounds robotic on TMS320C64

4kbps sounds robotic on TMS320C64
Hi, I'm currently working on the TI DaVinci processor, which has an ARM926 processor and a TMS320C64+ DSP in it. I have been using Speex 6kbps (narrowband, quality=2, complexity=1, perceptual_enh=0) on the DSP C64+ side without any issues; the voice sounds very good for such a low bandwidth requirement. However, recently, I tried out the 4kbps mode (changing quality to 1) on the DSP and it

GlusterFS & XenServer Baremetal
Hello, What is for you the best GlusterFS scenario in using XenServer (i'm not talking about Xen on a linux but XenServer baremetal) for a web farm (Apache-Tomcat) ? I were thinking of using ZFS as the filesystem for the different nodes. The objectives/needs : * A storage cluster with the capacity equal to at least 1 node(assuming all nodes are the same). * being able to lose/take down any

Occasional robotic sound while call in progress
We have an application that plays a variety of sound files on one leg of a call (generated by a call file). We've been told that the party listening to the audio files intermittantly hears "robotic" sounding audio (on/off during the same call). Anyone have ideas on cause? These calls are on an internal network (lots of network bandwidth), and from a server running 99% idle.

PLEASE DO NOT MIRROR SAMBA.ANU.EDU.AU WEB PAGES
...#39;ve noticed that after my appeal for mirrors last week several people started mirroring samba.anu.edu.au without asking first. Don't do this! It causes the problem of network costs to go up enormously. For example, today we had about 150k hits on the server. About 60% of these were from web robots mirroring the site! The robots only do a "HEAD" on each page but that costs us almost as much as pulling in the whole page as it is the ACKs and TCP setup costs not the data that cost at our end. I've been forced to take action on this as at this rate it would cost us about $400 this...

robots.txt
Hi all, I have again noticed that the wiki does not really show up in search results and wonder if it has any impact that robots.txt on wiki.centos.org is empty. Perhaps it should at least contain User-agent: * ? Best Regards Marcus

OT: Avoiding harddisk failure due to mobility
Hi All, I need some advice on finding a solution to this problem . I have a hard disk mounted on a mobile robot. I am using ext3 fs. The hard disk is subjected to several bumps as the robot travels. I am experiencing frequent hard disk failure ( about once a month). I have thought about 2 different solutions to this problem. I would appreciate any tips on evaluating them 1) Use Compact Flash

PLC Sounds Robotic - How to Implement FEC Wideband
I am specifically using Celt Wideband (48kHz) over WiFi multicast that naturally leads to lost packets and am trying to minimize the impact to the audio. I implemented PLC but the audio it produces is robotic. Have I implemented PLC correctly? Checking the waveform it is using the previous received waveform to fill in a missing packet but not the full waveform so it has to repeat. Basically,

4kbps sounds robotic on TMS320C64
Jean-Marc, Yes, fixed-point is enabled (#define FIXED_POINT in config.h). I haven't tried anything lower than 4kbps; like I mentioned, 6kbps sounds fine so it's very strange. The only code I changed to get 4kbps was setting quality to 1 so that is the only difference in my test code between using 4kbps and 6kbps. It seems to be in the encoder. On the ARM side, I encoded a 8Khz 16-bit

Bridge Networking stops working at random times
Supermicro X7DWN+, XEON 5410, Centos 5.2, Xen 3.2.1 At what looks like random times network traffic over xen bridge stops working, the only way I found to fix it is a reboot. This sometimes takes 10 min, other times it may be up for 10 days. This happened with default xen that comes with RedHat EL 5.2 as well as a default install of Fedora 8. Any ideas? ><> Nathan Stratton
