Read back of caller ID
I've been looking around for an example of a method of reading back a caller ID value, but I haven't found anything that doesn't use Festival. I'd rather not resort to the Mr. Roboto voice if I can avoid it. Playback of the numbers one at a time is perfectly fine, so I'd like to use the default female Asterisk voice (the sound files are in place on my server). Does anyone have an example of how to accomplish this? Thanks in advance! -------------- next part --------------...

A Couple Questions About a New Project
My compliments on the release of syslinux-5.0 and happy holidays to the entire Syslinux team.? I have a longer message in me.? Lots of curiousity about the direction of the project, but that will have to wait until I finish my first 5.0 project (*not* my first Syslinux project), which just happens to touch past problems: drive enumeration. This particular effort is on a USB flash drive, with two

CHAINing to a USB Thumb Drive
I was doing a laptop repair job today and needed to boot from a USB thumb drive, in order to free up the CD/DVD burner. Fortunately, the laptop to be repaired permitted one to boot from a USB thumb drive. However, there are still PCs out there that can't boot from a thumb drive (I have two), so I was wondering if it's pos to use the CHAIN module to boot from a thumb drive ? I looked at

Asterisk 10.0 & 1.4 - iax codec are not compatible
I'm trying Asterisk 10.0 (as 8.x is not passing PSTN CallerID) and Asterisk 10.0 is no better. Is There an Alternative to MEMDISK ?
This isn't an esp urgent issue, but I'd like to use a certain RAM diagnostic (Doc Mem) which I've already posted a note about a couple of months ago. Simply won't work booting the floppy disk image via MEMDISK. In the interim, I've tried to resolve this by changing things on my side. I'm pretty sure it's a XMS incompatibility, as it fails differently depending on

NTLDR Under ISOLINUX
Is there a practical reason that the NTLDR clause of the CHAIN module isn't operable under ISOLINUX ? The reason for my question is that I like the SYSLINUX suite over the alternatives, that is GRUB and BCDW, however these pkgs all can chainload (just about anything) from an ISO. That is, they can handle .BSS files and the various NT/XP boot files, like SETUPLDR.BIN, etc. I make/update

Fw: IAX Bandwidth Question
Subject: Re: [Asterisk-Users] IAX Bandwidth Question Hi, I have changed the codec to lpc10 (I see what they mean by Mr. Roboto!!) and the ping times generally dont go over 300ms. It seems very odd that GSM saturates the link. I would love to give g.723.1 a try but have no idea where to get the proprietary codec... can anyone help? Best Compression Available
Hi, What would you say that the best compression format is for voice recordings on Asterisk? The tradeoff being the file's size. I like GSM because of the small files size but the quality isn't great. What are people finding as a good setting for GSM? Thanks, Michael

iax2 trunk - unable to accept trunk packet
I have 1 * box having x100p installed and the other has no zaptel card at all. both of the * box has compiled in ztdummy module and both have been activated by modprobe ztdummy. When using trunk to connect the 2 *box. The one without zaptel card complaint about unable to accept trunked packet: no matching peer. On the one has zaptel card I have tried to remove the ztdummy module and connect
