logon path question
...o
create mask = 0600
directory mask = 0700
Which means I am putting my roaming profiles in the users home dir. Could I
be experiencing the issues described in the link above? Is that bit
basically saying don't store profiles in home dirs?
Cheers

Samba PDC - Solaris 8 or 9??
If anyone has Samba setup to run as a PDC with Solaris 8 or 9 could you
drop me a line? I have a few questions I would like ask. Our shop is
looking at trying to implement this option with our SMB master. I didnt
want to clutter up the list with more than one request.

UNIX paths vs UNC names in [profile]
...e dir anyway.
resolving /home/disk?/user/profil using Unix path names is difficult because I
have so many disks with home dirs.
BTW I've tried:
path = ~%U/profile
hoping that ~user would resolve correctly. It didn't seem to work.

PDC recognizing Domain machines: No problem, only Question
...o write its log as an IP? Also who is writing log.0.0.0.0?
I'm thinking that the PDC requires the SID of the machine in order to
recognize it?
Just looking for some type of explanation for this strange behaviour I see in
my log dir.

FYI: Solaris 9 profiles binary core dumping
...t. I can send the core file to anyone who wants for
inspection.
I've checked all of the other binaries, and the remainder seem to work fine.
I have been having trouble with roaming profiles incidental, I don't know if
this is related.

I've made clean a number of times to ensure it wasn't a dirty build. Can
anyone provide any clue. I can post smb.conf info if need be, but I don't
think that influences the build.

Power users on Samba 3.0.1.
Good Afternoon,
How do I set my domain users to became Power Users on the workstations?
Is there a way to map unix group "x" on the domain to became nt group
"Power Users"? I did some research and I found someone mentioning "take
domain users from the users group, and add it to the power user group"
but my w2k does not list "Domain Users" under

Solution to a Problem - Adding domain users as local Admins fails

If my observations help those struggling with the same problem, than so be it.

Another problem with Win2k logins...
Hi all,
After recovering the former SID that I hadn't had in mind while changing the Linux distro (thanks to Thomas for his help), now I still have some problems. I can't still get any user to login but the ones that must be in cache in the clients (thanks again Thomas).
So, I'll give you the logs to see if anybody detects something strange...
The users can perform a 'smbclient -L

Syncing time for non-Admin logons? - net time \\superserver /set /yes

Does anyone have suggestions as to how to have my samba clients update with

count data with nested mixed effects

I have count data in which 6-10 points are nested within 17 larger units
(which are nested within 3 larger-still units) plus a number of
covariates. It could be nested ANCOVA but for poisson family. Could
someone kindly advise me 1) if lmer is the correct function for the
analysis? and 2) what synax expresses the error structure? I have
consulted the package HTML documentation but

CentOS 6 and NIS not working
I am having no luck getting NIS to work on a clean install of CentOS 6. It seems to be an issue with ypbind.
I have simple /etc/yp.conf which explicitly sets the server

#service ypbind start
Starting NIS service: [OK]
Binding NIS service: ? [OK]
But when I try to use any of the yp services, like ypwhich
