But there are multiple domains in active-directory.
Can samba or krb5 support mutiple domains?
How to configure krb5.conf and smb.conf can let it support multiple domains?
Thanks.

FW: AIX and libldap.a
...:
--with-ldap LDAP support (default yes)
What if I turn ldap off in that statement...
What would the repercussions be?
All I'm interested in doing is simple file sharing.
By the way, what's the opposite of --with? --without?
Thanks

could not copy a file bigger than 1GB
Hi,
I have installed Samba 2.2.8 on AIX 5.2 server. I tried to copy a
file (around 106 GB) from win2k server to this AIX box. The "copy"
process was stop when the file was copied up to 1GB. Do you know what
was wrong? Is there anything I need to set on AIX server site in order
to transfer large file?

If you don't get transfer rates in the immediate neighbourhood of the
read/write
speeds of your client's disk drives, then your network setup (hardware or
configuration) is probably wrong. It's not easy to say what exactly is
wrong.

Linux integration with AD
Hi All,
I extended my AD schema (SFU 3.5) and migrated the users and groups from my
NIS domain.
The groups migrated from the NIS have the same GID like on the NIS.
I added linux machines to my AD domain using windbind, and define on the
smb.conf "idmap gid = 10000-20000".
I logged in using my AD user account, and when I'm doing "id", I see that
all the AD groups

Can't maintain a connection to the Server 2003 ADS on a subdomain
Hello to every Samba expert out there,
We've been having a hard time figuring out a particular problem with Samba.
After joining the Server 2003 ADS, which is on a different subnet - just
going through a router, the membership would drop all of a sudden.
Everything works great when the Samba server is on the same subnet as the
Server 2003 ADS. I have posted some details on forums, here is a

Allow access to a share to all members of a container?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
I have 104,000 users, some of which are in the OU:
ad.network.local\AD\People\IFAS\Hort
Is there an easy way to find all the users in this OU and grant them
access to a share?
Or do I have to list each user individually?
And if so, can I use net user to list the users in an OU?

Specified user does not exist. Huh?!
Ok folks I?m at my wit?s end here as I cannot seem to join the domain I
setup under Samba version 3.0.7. Every time I try and join the domain
with a user that has the power to add a machine to the domain it just
says that the user does not exist. This happens with all accounts which
I have specified in the smb.conf file as a user that can do this
function. I have added those users via smbpasswd ?a

Cant change legacy group in security panel
Hi,
I thought once upon a time I could change the group owner of a file in
the advanced security dialog panel, with or without extended acl support.
I'm using samba 3.0.11
I have extended acl support on AIX 5.2 jfs and compiled into samba.
I can add/delete extended groups and users, but I can't change the basic
group.
I don't have extended acl support on linux 2.4.20-28.9smp ext3,

Need help on "winbind nss info = template sfu"
According to the doco, "winbind nss info = template sfu"
requires "idmap backend = idmap_ad"
which has been depreciated to "idmap backend = ad"

I've tried everything I can think of. I kept thinking it must be
something I needed to configure when I changed over from padl xad to the

Everything had been working for the last 2 years. AD. samba, and unix
passwords are synchronized.

Can one set limits on new core dump?
Hi all,
Is there anyway to limit the new core dumping panics?
Can't find anything on it. (If I'd only looked in that ...)
Was my mistake, but winbindd filled up an entire volume
and froze out every process writing to that drive.
I started it from a shell and my soft limit is
already zero. (ulimit -S -c 0)
