Problems with Win-Username containing a "Umlaut"
Hi! I'm having a small network with 10 WinXP Pro computers and a SuSE 7.3 Linux Server. I configured Samba to map the Windows Usernames of 9 computers correctly, but the one, with which Marc D?rner is working, is not mapped correctly. I found out, that this is caused by the "?" (german Umlaut). If the Username is "Marc Doerner" it'll work, but i'd like to keep it to "Marc D?rner". So: How can I set Umlaut-letters in the username map? The entry in the us...

Making unix system accounts invisible in USRMGR.EXE
I have a Samba (3.0.22) server (working on Ubuntu 6.06.1) acting as NT PDC. My passdb backend is tdbsam. I'm using USRMGR.EXE from Microsoft for user account administration. In USRMGR.EXE I see all accounts, unfortunately also Ubuntu's system accounts (like proxy, sync, sshd etc.). Is there any way to make them invisible for USRMGR.EXE? Cheers B.

What is the default covariance structure in the glmmPQL function (MASS package)?
Hello, currently I am trying to fit a generalized linear mixed model using the glmmPQL function in the MASS package. I am working with the data provided by the book from Heck, Thomas and Tabata (2012) - https://www.routledge.com/Multilevel-Modeling-of-Categorical-Outcomes-Using-IBM-SPSS/Heck-Thomas-Tabata/p/book/9781848729568 I was wondering, which variance-covariance structure the glmmPQL

SDXC and the future of ZFS
Wouldn''t it be great if the opensolaris community creates a fs fzfs (for flash zfs) that could be the the filesystem for SDXC cards? Two main point for this are already there Sun is a member of SD Card Association and the code writting smart on a flash should be there as well with stuff of l2arc. I think that could give the opensolaris a more visiblie/ markting in the IT space and would

Roaming profiles and USRMGR.EXE
I'm using Samba 3.0.22 on Ubuntu 6.06.1 as PDC for our Windows workstations. The passdb backend is tdbsam. I want to employ roaming profiles and due to the fact that we have a mixed Windows environment (Windows 2000 Pro and Windows XP Pro) I have the following entry in my smb.conf: logon path = \\%L\profiles\%U\%a Basically, this works fine. If a user is working on a W2k workstation, his
