Installing RMySQL on Windows XP for R 1.9.1

I'm thankful for any help on installing RMySQL on Windows XP for R 1.9.1
The thread

already tried to discuss the matter. It concludes that Windows Sources for Packages are alike the Linux ones.
So I extracted the files from the RMySQL_*.tar.gz from
http://stat.bell-labs.com/RS-DBI/download/index.html
and stuffed them into a zip-file which was willingly taken by the install routine of my RGui. It said the well known "updating HTML
package descriptions" but when using library(RMySQL) the error "Error in testRversion(...

RMySQL
...s install in /opt/mysql. I
try to install RMySQL using configure-args to specify the path of mysql
but it does not work. Does any body have any suggestions.

The command that I am using is:
# R CMD INSTALL --configure-args='--with-mysql-dir=/opt/mysql' \
> RMySQL_0.5-2.tar.gz
I get the following response:

how do I install add on packages?
I'm having some trouble installing the add on packages.
I would like to install the RMySQL_0.4-3.tar.gz add on package. I've
downloaded it and unzipped the package. The INSTALL file says
R CMD INSTALL [-l<alternate-dir>] RMySQL_<version>.tar.gz
does this mean in the R system enter the following?
> INSTALL -l /root/RMySQL_0.4-3.tar.gz (?)
when I do this I get...
