maps library for R?
Hi there, Does it already exist a library in R to draw maps (something like a Generic Mapping Toolbox, http://gmt.soest.hawaii.edu/ port). I've seen in an old R-help that Ross Ihaka once tried to port the S-plus map library (http://maths.newcastle.edu.au/~rking/R/help/99b/0832.html ). Anybody know if this package is available somewhere or if there is somebody developing a Mapping package for R. I'll might then try to help. Cheers, Angel

sas vs. r
I like R more than SAS. My job is doing research on clinical trial. But I was told that FDA only accepts the result from SAS. Is that true? TOO BAD. [[alternate HTML version deleted]]

By the way the searchable archives via: http://www.r-project.org/, Mailing Lists, R-help, web-interface, searchable achieves, did not work: http://maths.newcastle.edu.au/~rking/R/ Also I was seeking in the FAQ's http://cran.r-project.org/doc/FAQ/R-FAQ.html and http://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/R/rw-FAQ.html and could not find the solution. I'm sure that lots of people have queried already and that the solution is already written down somewhere. However I cant find i...

Two-factorial Huynh-Feldt-Test
Hi, I'm currently working on porting some SAS scripts to R, and hence need to do the same calculation (and get the same results) as SAS in order to make the transition easier for users of the script. In the script, I'm dealing with a two-factorial repeated-measures anova. I'll try to give you a short overview of...

How to change the significant codes default?
..., `**' for 0.05 and `*' for 0.10 I don't know if this is true (common) or not, but what I as well as he are puzzled is that, apparently, there is no part in the code, say that of summary.lm, which produces these significant codes as well as the annotation above. A quick search of "rking" using keywords "significant codes star" gave me no information. Thanks in advance. Bluefish Editor with R
Dear List: Somewhere in the R-Statistical Software website, I remember having read about using the opensource Bluefish editor with R. During a recent visit to the site, I could not find the link or reference. Also, when I searched the list archives (http://maths.newcastle.edu.au/~rking/R/about.html) for "bluefish", the search returned no result. Has anyone in the list used bluefish as an editor for writing R commands and functions? Are there any tutorials available? TIA, Arin Basu

When I try to start R from my desktop, an "information"-window pops up: "Fatal error: Invalid HOMEDRIVE". I already deleted and reinstalled the program, but the problem lasts. How can I solve this problem? I would be very glad, if you can give me a hint, what??s going wrong. Best regards Sabine Bader -- Sabine Bader Hamburger Str. 83 44135 Dortmund 0231/7950683

How to get special (Hershey) font symbols into plot axis labels? [Revisited]
Dear R users, I would like to use sub- and super-script in axis labels. I assume this is best done using Hershey symbols. When trying to find information on using Hershey font symbols in axis labels, I came across the following discussion thread: http://maths.newcastle.edu.au/~rking/R/help/02a/1857.html Have Hershey font implementations moved on since then?
