debconf templating
Hello.
Hope you can help me further.
I can vaguely remember that once I saw a reference how to preconfigure
debconf in puppet manifests. So you can define answers in debconf inside
of manifests. No idea where anymore. Anybody knows?

panel/prepanel for polar plots ala xYplot
...r how to approach
the design of a robust, formula-based (including xYplot-like options)
radial/polar plot. I'd also be happy to hear of any packages that
include something heading in this direction, if they exist and I just
didn't locate them.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
---rjp
PS. For the curioius, the plot I am designing has a function call like
radplot(Cbind(y,ratio)~x|g, groups=h, ...)
where y is numeric and x may be numeric or a factor. The resulting
plot has "spokes" for each value of x with length y, the last 1 -
min(ratio, 1/ratio) fraction of th...

Thanks in advance for any pointers about where to look.

PS. The package is on github and installs fine (vignette index included, even though there is no index.html in the repo) using install_github("fastR", "rpruim")

Thank you, Randall!
I only saw that part now.... and fixed it in the sources a few minutes ago.

combining generics/methods from multiple packages

Is this possible? If so how?
My goal is to have select() work on objects that either package can handle without having to use MASS::select() or dplyr::select().
Thanks in advance for any help ? even if it is an explanation for why this is impossible and I should stop trying.

As I?ve said, I solved my problem by creating a slightly modified version of aggregate(). But it made me wonder whether this is a bug or a feature in aggregate().

Shorewall Documentation in PDF format
Hey gang,
I was wondering if all that documentation could or has been put into
PDF format. I usually like to download documentation and read it while
I''m sitting comfortably at home and I don''t want to tie up the phone
line all night.
Thanks,
Nino
p.s. If so, please feel free to attach the PDF formatted document to my
e-mail ;-)

Xen, NFS performance, rsize, wsize and MTU
We have a Xen 3.0 / Linux kernel 2.6.15 machine with the domU''s
configured for shared /home directories. One of the domU''s is an NFS
server, exporting /home, and the other domU''s all mount this.
It all functions fine, but it''s pretty slow.
I tried untarring a recent Linux kernel tarball. On the NFS server
domU this takes about 25 seconds. I didn''t

41 server under puppet today
Hello there.
Just to let you know i have just put in production mode puppet on 41
freeBSD 4.7 virtual servers (yes not real servers but "jailed ones"). I
had some little problems with facter at first but i have manualy
upgraded the servers that where affected by the little "facter does not
read his facts" problem i had. I should have missed something in my
deploiement.

Hm? On linux/glibc, gethostname just uses uname(2). It does not use dns or the
name service switch.
