*Sort of Commercial* TracFone's $45 unlimited offer to 'stun' rivals
Great for Chan_Mobile and GSM modem for SMS in Kannel or if Asterisk supports SMS over GSM modem. I know chan_mobile had SMS in the future at one point but have not revisited the project since. "America Movil's MVNO TracFone Wireless quietly unveiled a prepaid, nationwide unlimited offering for $45 per month that includes unlimited text messaging and 30 MB of data."

Samba + ACL backup solution
Hello all I am looking for a good backup solution for samba shares, I do not mean to start a jihad between rival backup religions, but I would appreciate any suggestions. I have tried star and love it, unfortunately there does not seem to be a gui or any frontend that can be used with it (it needs to be available to a couple of GUI-only (read as windows admin) people). Thanks again, Hamish

trying to get better ogg quality for this clip
hi folks, in my (unlucky) first test of ogg vs other encoders, i found a case where wma and mp3pro sound much better than ogg at 64k. can anyone suggest a setting that i haven't tried yet that can rival the wma and mp3pro samples at 64k? it's the "gravel effect" that is troublesome. the part in question is the first 15 seconds of this wave file:

Very first contact with docs may confuse
Hi, This is my very first time using CentOS and I find documentation a little bit confusing. For example, I don't know which iso image suits my needs, isn't adding big, shining red link "READ THIS IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHICH ISO SHOULD YOU CHOOSE" a good idea? 'README' file on mirrors with instructions would also be nice. If there already is one, I wasn't able to

The Origins of R AND CALCULUS
An amusing afterthought : What is a rival software (ahem!) was planting this, hoping for a divide between S and R communities.or at the very minimum hoping for some amusement. an assumption or even a pretense of stealing credit is one of the easiest ways of sparking intellectual discord Most users of softwares don't really care about who gets credit ( Who wrote Windows Vista ,or Mac OS or

[patch 0/6] Guest page hinting version 6.
Greetings, I've dedusted the guest page hinting patches and ported them to todays upstream git tree. There is one reject if applied to 2.6.24-rc5-mm1 but that is easy to fix. The code stills works as expected on my test system. Our z/VM performance team recently published a report on guest page hinting vs. the ballooner approach on SLES10 for a farm of web servers. The code on SLES10 differs

Best echo-free and trouble-free system?
We currently have a 15-phone system using Asterisk, a combination of analog phones/Grandstream HandyTone-286 and Grandstream BT101s, and 4 X100Ps connected to analog lines. The system works well except for the occasional echo problem. I have all the echo parameters configured, removed all the extra incoming analog lines except to the PBX, etc. following all the advice on the wiki and on the

the road to 1.0...
Great to hear that things are going smoothly, Josh. My $.02 is that it is worth making 110% sure that you/we've tweaked the codec for speed/compression as much as can be done *before* 1.0, since we're really not under any kind of deadline. Sure, it would be nice to get it out the door, but why not have it rival Shorten and Monkey's right from the start? I'm *still* working on

Deploying a R model on a cloud computer using PMML
...st, Please find an interview from Michael Zeller ,CEO, Zementis. Mike talks about how to use an existing model ( created in R) , using PMML as an intermediate for exporting the model, and deploying it on a cloud computer for as low as 1 $ per hour. Regards, Ajay *Ajay-* *What are the traditional rivals to scoring solutions offered by you. How does ADAPA compare to each of them. Ubuntu Dapper packages
Hi all, Daniele Favara was kind enough to package Xapian (and Pinot :-) for Dapper and Xubuntu. I understand Daniele used cdbs to build these packages. http://packages.debian.org/unstable/devel/cdbs I am not sure if the differences with the official packages built for Debian and Breezy are significant... Anyway, if you would like to give them a go, add the following to your sources.list : deb
