installing centOS5.5
Want to install CentOS 5.5 by burning the image on DVD. On the link:
http://mirrors.hns.net.in/centos/5.5/isos/x86_64/, there is a list given.
CentOS-5.5-x86 64-bin-DVD.torrent is in the list. So is the download of the
.iso possible only through torrent?
There is CentOS-5.5-x86 64-netinstall.iso Is this also an .iso which one can
download to install CentOS5.5?

updating centOS5.3
I have centOS5.3 installed in the system. I have never updated it but now am
planning to update. While doing "yum update", is there any possibility that
the update might hamper the execution of any software/application installed
on the system? Is there anything particular to note before updating the
system?

input/output error while copy
When I give the command "cp file1 file2" then the error comes:
cp: cannot create regular file `file2': Input/output error
This occurs sometimes and it occurs when I am giving the command inside a
external hard disk which is mounted by "ntfs-3g" manually.
Why does this error come?

pen drive, hard disk, cd not being detected
I am working in Centos5.5. Pen drive, hard disk, cd are not being
recognised. During booting, "mounting local filesystems [failed]" is
displayed among other errors which I am unable to see as the messages
proceed fast. Are these messages stored in some file, so that I can check
them and report all the errors that are displayed during booting.

Happy new year :D
i have just installed centos 5.5 on my vmware to test my server,i found that
i need nasm x64 to compile my assembly code, the yum database only has 0.98
version which does not support 64bit.
the nasm version 2(rpm from offcial site) requires glibc 2.7, i know its a
core component, but is there a way to upgrade it without break system?

Read/Write textbox in R
...doc/library/widgetTools/html/writeText.html.
When I run the example I get the following error:
"Error in function () : could not find function "getTextValue"
What's missing here? Is the function getTextValue() inactive/not supported
anymore? Any alternatives?
Thanks!
Regards,
Ritika
