[GSOC 2014] Some questions about Letor module
Hi, I've read the code of letor module. And I have some questions about it: 1. In https://github.com/rishabhmehrotra/xapian/blob/master/xapian-letor/letor_internal.cc#L299, there is a write_to_file method, which save RankList into ?train.txt?. But the format for ?train.txt? is different from the one mentioned in http://trac.xapian.org/wiki/GSoC2011/LTR/Notes#QueryLevelNorm. And in https://github.com/rishabhmehrot...

Questions on letor module
Hi, I have several questions regarding the letor module,I looked at the framework of learning to rank in xapian http://rishabhmehrotra.com/gsoc/17.png, I am a little confused. Why using deep learning to find unsupervised features in test data? Since in my understanding, learning to rank model usually learn features from the training data then apply the model to the test data? Why test set and training set have different features?...

A few more question about LETOR
...all the xapian-letor headers? #include<xapian/intrusive_ptr.h> #include<xapian/types.h> #include<xapian/visibility.h> Or just provide me with the documentation of these header. I looked into these header files but couldn't anything substantial. 2. Here<https://github.com/rishabhmehrotra/xapian/blob/master/xapian-letor/include/xapian/letor.h#L41>is the class Letor::Internal intentionally named same as this Internal<https://github.com/xapian/xapian/blob/99eed23ae87bb96f5f9ee7e14a62e9f4af04af0c/xapian-core/include/xapian/intrusive_ptr.h#L44>namespace or is it just a coincide...

GSOC - 2013 - Introduction (Learning to Rank)
...amp;trk=tab_pro) I am interested in "Learning To Rank" project. If I am not wrong, I found the framework incorporated by Parth in the cloned code. It needed some refactoring in order to incorporate more algorithms and was done by Rishabh and available in his git repo (https://github.com/rishabhmehrotra/xapian) but is still not merged. So, I assume I should think of additions to the code in Rishbh's repo. Moreover, I noticed that SVM-rank, ListMLE and ListNet is already present in the code. I am interested in addition of a random forest approach and looking for appropriate libraries. I would b...

[GSoC2012] Learning to Rank: few thoughts/issues
...e/she could use additional features, the feature extraction module could be plugged in. Same for rank aggregation. *Relevant Background:* I have worked on few research oriented projects in Machine Learning, but most of them involved coding in Matlab/Java. More details about me: [link<http://www.rishabhmehrotra.com/index.htm> ]. I have been working on a project on Topic Modeling(using Latent Dirichlet Allocation) for Tweets. Link <http://code.google.com/p/tweettrends/> of the code on Google code. Also, I am involved in a collage project on building *focused crawler *& extending it to somethin...

Mid-term progress
Hi Rishabh, As per our last progress meeting, I am off for some days and as now its the time to mid-term evaluation, it would be better to generate a progress report. For that, you should first commit the code as it is and then write 2 to 3 page summary explaining the deliverables so far and then the future plan. Tomorrow is the last day, so better by tomorrow morning, send this across and by
