[LLVMdev] Dragonegg stack variables reorderings
...en probably B will get output to the LLVM IR first. I think you're right: I fixed my particular problem by initializing all stack variables. > I guess I could arrange for them all to be output in one fell swoop at the > start of the function. Why do you need this? I need this to make RIPE (https://github.com/johnwilander/RIPE) work. RIPE is the "runtime intrusion prevention evaluator" and it is a program that performs a lot of different attacks on itself. It relies on the order of stack variables for its stack smashing attacks. ...o is allowed recursive queries, but this does not affect the CPU load. I also updated bind. Strange connection to the outside...
Hi all, for some strange reason, our still-under-test Asterisk deployment wants to contact the outside world and that raised some eyebrows here... Just a sample of our firewall log: -- ...a=DROPIN=eth0 OUT=eth2 SRC=192.168.36.199 DST=195.77.113.194 LEN=476 TOS=0x10 PREC=0x00 TTL=62 ID=39572 DF PROTO=UDP SPT=5060 DPT=62975 LEN=456 -- Why is this happening? We got no relationship with the DST

[LLVMdev] Dragonegg stack variables reorderings
I have noticed that dragonegg sometimes allocates stack objects in a different order than they were declared in the source file. I experienced this behavior when compiling RIPE (https://github.com/johnwilander/RIPE) in the function perform_attack. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to reproduce this in a minimal example. (Note that when compiling RIPE with GCC, the order of stack variables is preserved) So, I have two questions about this behavior: 1) When exact...

blacklist
What''s the difference between a newnotsyn DROP and a blacklist DROP? Also, there''s a web site (SRC=62.193.203.132) that has been trying to connect to port 25 for a couple of weeks now. Is there a way to get someone upstream to add a block to that site for a small fish like me?

metadata in dryrun mode
.... IMHO, it would be ideally if the check for dry_run would be pushed down as far as possible. That would be in the syscall wrapper functions if I am correct. If that is not possible, then it is fine with me. Please let me know and I will create the appropriate patch. Prevent smbd from consulting winbindd
...oblem is, as soon as I start winbindd, smbd begins consulting it and all Windows users start receiving uids/gids different from those in /etc/passwd. How do I prevent smbd from consulting winbindd and make it use the old /etc/passwd mechanism for uids? TIA for any input. -- Victor Sudakov, VAS4-RIPE, VAS47-RIPN sip:sudakov at sibptus.tomsk.ru

My view on 1.0 release and version numbering
...make 1.0 bug free before calling it 1.0. But I want to argue for an earlier less perfect 1.0. Dovecot is already way past the quality of most 1.0 releases. So it is good enough by common standards. No one really expects a 1.0 release to be perfect. But - some people don't consider a product ripe until it reaches 1.0. Once you cross the line then more people will pick it up and you will get more bug reports because of a larger base. This would actually accelerate the debugging process. And it will spur acceptance of the product and perhaps bring in more developer resources. Generally 1...
