Can you invoke an app before dialtone?
say I needed to send a broadcast message that I wanted every user to hear when the pick up thier phone? can I "Play, message" on a line just before they get dialtone? or maybe after they dial before ring? how about a "ringdown" to a voicemail box and on end return them to thier line for the dialout? can * do ringdowns? when a user picks up an extension it automagically rings an extension? asterisk PLAR
Does anyone know if asterisk supports PLAR (Private Line Auto Ringdown). The Oreilly (Asterisk: Future of Telephony) book mentions it in passing saying that all you need to enable it is to set immediate=yes in zapata.conf. Has anyone implemented this in brokerage trading environments? Thanks in advance. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment...

ISDN newbie
...aps getting some digital voice channels, instead of analog lines, will help with the echo problem. It also seems like the next logical step in expanding to more lines. Can ISDN do this? I have heard that ISDN cannot do "hunting"; or I cannot have one number for multiple lines with 'ringdown'. Is that true? Is there something else that is preferable to just getting more analog lines? I think a T1 is a bit out of our price range at this point, but I don't know. How much is a T1 anyway? Thanks for any info, Sean R.

What's the best way to combine multiple VOIP lines into a single number?
Hello there, I'm new to Asterisk and I'm wonder what's the best way to combine multiple VOIP lines into a single phone number... I currently have 4 incoming VOIP lines, each one with a different number. Ideally, I would love to provide my customers with a single number for all those lines. Is that possible? If so, would anyone give me directions or send me a dialplan example

Concept for line appearances and bridging: anyone?
...ir Cisco 7960 (or whatever phone) I can have the system auto-dial into my * server. Using the caller ID, I can determine what line they're calling from. If there is nobody on that "line appearance", then I can give them a DISA to allow them to dial a regular call, as if the auto-ringdown didn't happen. - This feature becomes useful now that we have some phones that support "SUBSCRIBE" methods to allow other phones to show who is on what lines. We can _see_ who is on the line, but there is no ability to add other lines to the call without transferring to a MeetM...

Question setting up a "bat phone" extension.
Basically, I am looking to set up an extension which will be used as a "help-line". I want it to function kind of like the bat phone from the old Batman series, where Commissioner Gordon would pick up the extension in his office and it would ring the phone back at Wayne's mansion. Is there a way to duplicate this functionality with Asterisk? I just need asterisk to auto-dial an
