dm-ioband + bio-cgroup benchmarks
Hi All,
I have got excellent results of dm-ioband, that controls the disk I/O
bandwidth even when it accepts delayed write requests.
In this time, I ran some benchmarks with a high-end storage. The
reason was to avoid a performance bottleneck due to mechanical factors
such as seek time.
You can see the details of the benchmarks at:
http://people.valinux.co.jp/~ryov/dm-ioband/hps/
Thanks,
Ryo

how to configure ne2k emulation?
I''ve searched all night long on google, discussions, threads, and the xen wiki... but I can''t find how to do this:
vif = [''type=ioemu,mac=XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX,model=ne2k_pci'']
where should I put this?
I have sxce94, dom0 works nicely, and domUs too, but I''d like to select ne2k for an hvm openbsd dom0 that I''ve created because I''ve read

exiting mclapply early on error
...ys.sleep(0.1); if(x == 4) stop()}, mc.cores = 4, mc.preschedule = F)
```
When there are many calculations in FUN, it takes a long time before the error is returned. It would be nice if there were an option to exit (all child processes) early on error. Is there any way to do this?
Thanks,
Giovanni Righi
exiting mclapply early on error
Thanks for the response, Jeremie. I wholeheartedly agree about testing.
In my case, this feature would be used purely to reduce computation time. I?m calculating
an expensive (and embarrassingly parallel) likelihood function, and for some parameter combinations
my objective function diverges to infinity. In those instances, I?d like to throw an error that stops
subsequent computations and that I
sparse files patch question
...h worth a try here to speed things up ?
i`m a little bit unsure, but i assume "no" as this is to be used when llseek() is costly, correct ?
i`m asking as i don`t want to waste time with experiments at a customer site.
This patch adds the --sparse-block option. Andrea Righi writes:
[PATCH] allow to change the block size used to handle sparse files
In some filesystems, typically optimized for large I/O throughputs (like
IBM GPFS, IBM SAN FS, or distributed filesystems in general) a lot of
lseek() operations can strongly impact on performances. In this cases it
can be helpful to enlarge the block size used to handle sparse files
directly from a command line parameter.
For example, using a sparse write size of 32KB, I've been able to
