dynamic queries
Is there an easy (and secure) way to search your database when you don''t know the number of parameters ahead of time? I can see doing it by concatenating together an sql query, but hopefully rails provides a more elegant way to do this with ActiveRecord without making a ginormous switch statement? For example, lets say my search form has 4 different input boxes. I only want the query

kernel.org 2.6.16-rc2 vs xen-unstable 2.6.16-rc2 - missing buslogic?
...logic SCSI driver i xen-unstable kernel synced earlier this morning. I find this a bit strange, as I know the option is there in kernel.org''s 2.6.16-rc2. The config option was somehow lost in 2.6.15 and re-added in 2.6.15.2. Why isn''t it available from xen sources? Wine and industrial communication like OPC
...hough I could have a Win program running in Wine on the Linux machine talking with the main app on the same computer and talking OPC to other machines that need that. I hope Wine and/or you can help me in this case. It would be a tragedy if we had to switch operating system just because of this. /Rickard -- ___________________________________________________________ Sign-up for Ads Free at Mail.com http://promo.mail.com/adsfreejump.htm

safe html links
Hi, I''m working on a web app that allows users to submit links to external sites. I''m curious if there are any special security considerations I should take aside from escaping the user input with h( )? Is it safe to directly link_to h(user_inputted_url), h(user_inputted_url) or could that be exploited in a way that I''m not thinking of. Thanks. -------------- next

Splitting variables
Dear R Users,I have a data set with several variables. One of these variables is the number of farms per county and I'd like to split this variable into two domains: (a) counties with fewer than 600 farms and (b) counties with 600 or more farms I've tried solving this problem for hours, but I'm new at R so I'm not getting there. if (x < 600) y <- x else z <- x didn't

Problem with TDM400P and cidstart=polarity
I'm testing a TDM400P with FXO module to receive incoming calls from an analogue line and send it to a SIP device. To recieve callerid, I need to use cidsignalling=dtmf and cidstart=polarity. The problem is that when a call is finished, the TDM400P seems to require about 20 seconds to prepare for the next incoming call. If a new call comes in within 20 seconds after the previous call was

SAMBA and multiple Windows NT and Active Directory Domains
To whom it may concern, I had originally sent the message below over a week ago. I haven't rec'd any response other than that Trevor Rickards is on vacation until May 2. Below is what I sent on April 23.... I've been investigating a problem configuring SAMBA 2.0.7 on Solaris servers properly. My basic questions boil down to: * Does 2.0.7 support authentication against *multiple* domain controllers? In the Server.conf file w...
