this is possible with vorbiscommet. i believe that metaflac can be used
to change the comments.
on the rhythmbox side, there is no support for custom tags. i think
most players wouldn't support that kind of thing just b/c its seems that
it would have very minimal usage. rhymthbox does count how many times
you have played a song and will record a rating (1-4) that you can set.
i haven't found a way to sort by rating or by number of times played.
i imagine that it will be supported sometime in the future. if it takes
too long i might try to add it myself b/c it seems like...

Hello everyone! I'd like to set up a FLAC jukebox on a Linux laptop. What
do you guys recommend for software? I need to be able to tag the files
according to the data I want in there, and then I need to be able to play
the files back in all kinds of crazy ways according to the tags. What do
you guys recommend?
