Recent openssl is required for OPENSSL_free [Re: Please test snapshots for 3.0 release] (fwd)
.... This is good from security perspective, but will make building with e.g. 0.9.5a impossible. If this is intended to be requirement (there _have_ been security fixes), at least Requires: openssl >= 0.9.6 or whatever should be added and the requirement noted in the docs. The build failed on my RHL62 with: ./libssh.a(key.o): In function `write_bignum': key.o(.text+0x7f7): undefined reference to `OPENSSL_free' I bet this is an issue that people might complain about. Build works ok on RHL72 beta w/ openssh 0.9.6b. -- Pekka Savola "Tell me of difficulties surmount...

linux X forwarding still not working
I'm now using the openssh-2.5.2p1 version, and the X forwarding on the linux machine is still not working. It's a Redhat 6.2 machine running kernel 2.2.17-14 It doesn't appear to be adding anything to the /tmp/ssh-whatever/cookies file when you log in. I posted some debug info yesterday. Does anyone have some ideas of what I can try next, or is this a known bug?

trouble logging out when using protocol version 2
Dear OpenSSH gurus, My machine is running Red Hat Linux 6.1 and has installed all of the 6.binary rpms generated from the source rpms openssh-2.2.0p1-2.src.rpm 6.and openssl-0.9.5a-3.src.rpm. When I use protocol version 2 (by specifying "Protocol 2,1" in ~/.ssh/config), I can establish connections properly, but they do not shut down properly. When I run a remote command by "ssh

Call for testing for coming 2.9 release.
If we can get people to test their platforms against the last snapshot/cvs tree I'd be greatful. (http://www.openssh.com/portable.html) I know NeXT platform has problems. I'm going to spend tonight looking at it. Also, take a moment to see what manpage type ./configure decided for your system and if it's 'cat' please let us know. Thanks. - Ben

Call for testers.
http://bass.directhit.com/openssh_snap/ Starting tonight I plan on tracking changes very closely with the OpenBSD tree. I need people to test the latest snapshot (9/14 at of right now) and report success or failure on compiling. I am starting this now because we are looking at a code freeze soon and I really want to ensure it compiles and runs on all existing platforms. So we (the portable
