[PATCH] virt-v2v: Create a libvirt-friendly volume name
The $vmdk value is a directory name in ESX.pm, although the later codes
replace '/' with '_', the volume name isn't still friendly, for example,
it looks like this:
# virsh vol-list pool-dir

RHEL6.2 kernel
Hello,
until a more official rebuild shows up, I have recomppiled the
RHEL 6.2 kernel src.rpm and copied the binary rpms to:
http://jur-linux.org/download/redhat-kernel/6/220.el6/
This is running happily on a dozen machines now.

issue with kvm host crashing
I have a dell r910 with rhel6.2 on it and libvirt 0.8. This machine is hosting 12 virtual guests. Every 3 - 5 months the server crashes for no apparent reason. The logs show no kernel panics or other issues causing the crash. The sar logs show a very high context switch count ( approx. 170000). and also high runq-sz (approx. 10 - 18). The cpu's were mostly idle, memory usage low, no swapping,

How can I make sVirt work with LXC (libvirt-0.9.13)?
?Hi,
?I've installed libvirt-0.9.13 on RHEL6.2 from the source code.
I cannot make sVirt working with LXC. (sVirt works well with KVM, though.)
I can start an LXC instance, but the label of the process is not right.
Can someone help me?
I tried to change /etc/libvirtd/lxc.conf file to explicitly enable
security_driver = "selinux".
But it ends up with error saying "error :

KVM VM traffic over host's Tinc VPN
Hello Tinc list!
I'm trying to set up a Tinc VPN between two KVM host machines so that a
VM on one host can communicate with a VM on the other host. While I do
have a good bit of experience with virtualization, I'm not a
particularly savvy network guy, so this is proving to be a pretty big
challenge.
Requirements:
* ALL VM network traffic must be secure.
* VMs on one host must be

[PATCH v3] virtio_blk: unlock vblk->lock during kick
Holding the vblk->lock across kick causes poor scalability in SMP
guests. If one CPU is doing virtqueue kick and another CPU touches the
vblk->lock it will have to spin until virtqueue kick completes.
This patch reduces system% CPU utilization in SMP guests that are
running multithreaded I/O-bound workloads. The improvements are small
but show as iops and SMP are increased.

CentOS 6.2 and VirtualBox 4.1.8
Okay, I go through the install and it reboots, but I have no Network

I'm trying to "Install Guest Additions" and it requires the
"kernel-devel". Okay, not I'm trying to mount the DVD1 (iso), but linux
is showing it as empty (no files). But if I mount this on a 5.7 VM, it

password expiration
Hello all,
I have a test system with CentOS 6.2 running samba 3.5.10_125.el6 and
OpenLDAP 2.4.23_20.el6. Password expiration is set as sambaMaxPwdAge:
5184000 and password aging works with a Windows 7 client. On a
production system, I've got samba 3.5.10_115.el6_2 and openldap
2.4.23_20.el6 running on RHEL6.2. I have set sambaMaxPwdAge to 5184000
and it does not work consistently with

Transfer speed
Hello,
I have a little problem which I can't solve with Samba used under Debian
Squeeze. (version of Samba : 3.5.6)
I made a transfer speed between Samba server and a samba mount on the same
PC copy to RAM and the same file directly to RAM.
1. HDD to RAM => 105-115Mo/s
2. Shared the same HDD directory with samba and mount to "/media" locally
with (mount -t smbfs) :

Networking issue, C6.2 LiveDVD x86_64
Good afternoon, CentOS list.
I am beginning triage of a rather wierd issue I experienced Saturday with CentOS 6.2 LiveDVD, x86_64. I'm posting this information in hope that someone may have seen something similar.
I use a USB key with CentOS 6.2 LiveDVD loaded, with an encrypted home filesystem, built using the instructions on the CentOS wiki for a LiveUSB build, and it was built by a

virsh create error : monitor socket did not (Alex Jia)
Hi Alex,
when I got this error, it was a vnc listener problem. Is there other

try to change the port number to see if the problem was solved.
<graphics type='vnc' listen='0.0.0.0' port='5909'/>
Good Luck.

automatically detaching PCI host devices from guest for SRIOV usage.
Dear List ,
We are using intel 82599EB based SRIOV capable 10GbE cards
on the host machine. The VFs are being assigned to the guest
in pass through mode and are providing the network connectivity
as expected.
However when we shutdown the guest the connectivity does not
comes back via the VFs on the guest in next boot unless
the VFs are detached from the *guest* *before* initiating a
shutdown of
