Vanishing maildirsize files with 1.0.7 using 'deliver' via postfix
Aloha, I've searched the list and have found no similar reports, so I'm asking here. We have 3 RH5.1 boxes running the stock Postfix 2.3.3, but due to issues with the stock Dovecot 1.0rc15, Redhat supplied us with the version of Dovecot 1.0.7 that will be in Redhat 5.2. The mail store is automounted per-user from a Sun box via NFS. We were using it with no problems until last Friday,

Problem with TCP_wrappers
Hi, I''m running into something weird here. I''m using RH5.1 with tcp_wrappers 7.6. The syntax for hosts.allow and hosts.deny is: <service list> : <access list> [ : <shell_command> ] Everything works when I _don''t_ use the shell_command. I used the _exact_ line as in the man-pages utilising "safe_finger" (comes with tcp_wrappers), tcpdchk

Create VoiceMenu SNAFU
Hi All, I'm new to Asterisk, but am a relatively accomplished Linux guy (RH5.1) .. I'm using the Asterisk-GUI to try and create a menu for incoming calls on an Analog Trunk. I have recorded some .WAV files for the menu, but when I try to upload the files, I get an AG101 message. So I copied the files to /var/lib/asterisk/sounds/record .. when I go to the Voice Menu Prompts

smbfs
Hi- I'm working on a graphical interface to smbclient/smbmount/smbumount. As part of its operation, it will mount shares in directories under a user's home directory. I've run into a bit of a problem regarding the distributions of the mount utilities, specifically on Redhat 5.1/5.2. They are shipping an RPM with smbfs 2.0.1, which is known to have a security hole... so it should

Booting Diskless Workstations
I made a post in the Fedora list that didn't yield much help regarding this. I need to use a CentOS5.1 server to remotely boot a few Fedora 9 workstations. I have the option of using straight PXE, or even reflashing gPXE to the LOM for the clients. What I am interested in knowing is the best approach to this. 1. Should I just do iSCSI backed diskless setups? Probably doesn't scale well.

Maintaing Quotas
We have our user set up with quotas on RedHat Linux server(5.1). It works under the normal linux enviroment. BUT when we use SAMBA to get the user's home directory mapped to drive letter on a WINNTmachine (4 with SP 3) it doesn't maintain the quota. After using all the allocted space user can still copy files to that drive which is mapped for user's home directory. Does anybody else

Linux in NT domain (long)
List- Facts: NT 4.0 Server as PDC IP: 10.0.1.X Netmask: 255.255.255.0 RH5.1 Linux IP: 207.78.247.X Netmask: 255.255.255.248 New to Samba, not new to Linux or NT. Here's what I would like to do: Obviously, the NT PDC is the server for an internal network. What I would like to do is add the new Linux box to the network so that my Win95 and NT clients can see ONE directory. The Linux

max filename length
I'm having some weird problems with filename lengths. Here are the symptoms: - I can not rename a file from explorer to have more than 127 characters. After typing in a filename, it prompts me with the "are you sure you want to change the extension" dialog. It gets truncated to 127 characters, and doesn't have an extension. The filename shows up from a UNIX shell having only

Domain problem?
Hi all, I have a RH5.1 box with Samba 2.0.2 compiled in. This is inside an NT Domain. Everything works fine with Win's, but now i have a recently upgraded SUSE6 box i have to connect to that Server. It has a Samba 2.0.2 upgrade from SUSE, but when we try to smbmount with exactly the same parameters as before the upgrade, when it worked, we receive this message: Mount error - Invalid argument

ALERT: Tiresome security hole in "xosview", RedHat5.1?
Hi, I am bemused. After some security auditing on RH5.0, I was curious as to what new suid binaries and daemons shipped with RH5.1. The first one I noticed was "xosview". God knows why it needs to be SUID; it probably doesn''t but the makefile just makes the binary suid by default. Linux has /proc which has enough information that ferreting around in /dev/kmem using root privs

RH5.2 bundle
Hello and Happy New R Two points: 1 Noting the existence of 0.63.2 as a tgz file on CRAN, but being careful or lazy depending on how you want to see it, I also note that the binaries for Redhat stop at 0.63.1 on RH 5.1. I recently got the RH 5.2 Power Tools where I was pleased to see R 0.62.4 included, lots of libraries including V&R. This had been compiled into an rpm - does anyone know

smbsh and smbwrapper - porting help needed
Someone asked today about smbfs on HPUX. The basic answer to that is that smbfs is _very_ operating system specific so it would take quite a lot of work to get it to run on another OS. There is hope though. Over the past few days I have been developing something called smbwrapper (and smbsh). This offers most of the capabilities of smbfs in a way that makes it somewhat portable. It also provides

Slowdown when copying large files
I am currently investigating using samba on a Linux box to provide file server services on our NT LAN (I'm a bit sick of NT doing dummy spits on me). I'm running RH5.1, and have just upgraded samba to samba-1.9.18p8-51.3 (using the rpm from http://samba.anu.edu.au/samba/ftp/Binary_Packages/redhat/RPMS/5.1/samba- 1.9.18p8-51.3.i386.rpm) The setup includes several NT servers, one set up as

Advice please ...
Hello R-ists Have been lurking on the list for a while, I have noticed recently two problems: 1 There seem to be problems with installing R on SuSe Linux version 5.3. As the list only gets problems and doesn't log the successes, has anyone successfully loaded R on SuSe 5.3? Is this a feature of 0.62.3 only or do the problems apply also to earlier versions. 2 There was a list of
