DHCP option 93 for UEFI
...rrata B, Table 179, "PXE Tag Definitions for EFI", makes reference to a table in: <http://www.ietf.org/assignments/dhcpv6-parameters/dhcpv6-parameters.x ml#processor-architecture> which in turn makes reference (among others) to another table in: <http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4578#section-2.1> These two tables contain conflicting information: RFC 4578 - DHCPv6 7 EFI BC - 7 x64 UEFI 9 EFI x86-64 - 9 EBC In addition, there is a PDF _from the UEFI Group_, "IPv6 Remote Boot Requirements From UEFI Forum", IETF 72, year 2008, which correctly repr...

pxelinux efi64 boot woes on hyper-v gen 2
...configuration file originally from clonezilla's DBRL project. _ In "option arch = 00:09", there is a "PXEClient:Arch:00007" statement. Isn't this some kind of arch conflict? Yeah but we aren't using 00:09 yet, but I guess we will later. http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4578 _ Is the "else if" syntax correct in your particular dhcp tool(s) / case? For example, perhaps you actually need "elsif"? It works. ISC DHCP 3.1 I think. Look I think the problem and why the basic configuration doesn't work is we have one TFTP server (NAS), one DHCP Serv...

EFI: HP + syslinux = crash
...e of iron. You might have asked yourself, why chainload? Why not load it directly? Believe me, i tried. First I had to 'fix' my dhcpd.conf because HP probably read the docs on http://www.iana.org/assignments/dhcpv6-parameters/dhcpv6-parameters.txt instead of https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4578, so it advertises itself as architecture 0x07 (EFI Byte Code) instead of 0x09 (EFI X64). For the record: During the first tests, the System ROM is at version 1.32 and the NIC Firmware is at version 2.13.5. The result for version 6.0.3 compiled from the tarball: >> Booting Embedded L...

pxelinux efi64 boot woes on hyper-v gen 2
Gene, I found a document from IBM that explains why it didn't like Vendor-Class-Identifier option I was using "PXEClient" was causing EFI boot rooms to dummy spit, that's very useful, that combined with RTFMing the PXE specs 3.0-3.2 might solve my problem if I keep at it. http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21247032 Even the PXELinux docs suggest encapsulating
