That's a secondary issue.? A properly configured DNS server *should*
answer correctly for "localhost".? Yours doesn't.? It's broken.? Red Hat
ships ISC Bind with a working configuration (/etc/named.rfc1912.zones).?
I'm not sure whether you're using something else, or if you've removed
the RFC1912 zones.? Fix that later.
"host" and "dig" are both DNS tools, and won't tell you if your files
are being used properly.? While you're troubleshooting the libc name...

Active Directory Domain Services depends on DNS Server ( and others) in windows.
And yes the wiki does have a few errors imo.
One needed correction are the /etc/hosts file for example :
127.0.0.1 localhost any-other.alias

How to enable bind to listen querys from all my network

HOWTO centOS 5.5 samba4 dns dynamic update/Replication

To make bind work you have to add user named to the group named (To avoid
this you can add the user named and group named before you compile
named!!!).
Set the rights to make named work correctly:
chmod 770 /etc/named.conf.
chmod 770 /etc/named.rfc1912.zones.
chown root:named /etc/named.conf.
chown named:named /etc/named.rfc1912.zones.
chmod -R 770 /var/named.
chown -R named:named /var/named.
chown named:named /etc/rndc.key.
chown named:named /var/run/named/.
Now download and install samba:

Samba and DNS backend question
I had configured Samba AD's with Bind9_DLZ in all DC. But for some reason
(i couldn't determine) three (sambadc02,03,04) AD's responded very slowly
. So change to Samba_Internal backend into the servers with problem and
works fine.
sambadc01 -> with FSMO roles - Bind9_DLZ
sambadc02 -> Samba_Internal
sambadc03 -> Samba_Internal
sambadc04 -> Samba_Internal
