cifs and Netapp DFS-shares problems
Hi, are there any known issues with cifs and DFS-shares on Netapp file servers? We have a Netapp file sever with DFS on the user's home shares. The home shares can successfully mounted with mount -t cifs //sever/home/username /mnt/ -o user=username, domain=AD but the connection hangs in the moment a directory listing is started. The strange thing is that only shares with activated DFS show

The connection doesn't work, and with "dmesg" I see the following message, repeated every time I try: [26937.531511] CIFS VFS: RFC1001 size 39 bigger than SMB for Mid=4 [26937.531580] Bad SMB: : dump of 48 bytes of data at 0xffff880052832380 [26937.531615] 00000027 424d53ff 00000074 00018800 ' . . . ? "Called name not present" - using smbclient from linu x to access win98
Thanks a lot! That would be great if you can explain further why and how the netbios session requires the netbios name, not ip address, Thanks again! samba documentation
Jean-Marc, Being new to SAMBA myself, I've looked all over for plainly written docs. The best I've found is SAMS' "Learning SAMBA in 24 Hours" written by a couple of the SAMBA team members (whose names I can't remember right now -- I'd like to give them credit). The MAN pages are reference works for those who know how but can't remember. The HOWTOs, and most of

I not sure if this Samba restriction that you talk about is totally true (I am not a samba expert), but one of the advantages of using Netbios over Tcpip is the capability to pass across routers (I have done that before with OS/2 Servers). see http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc1001.txt?number=1001 Asoka Anon wrote: >Hello, I am totally new to samba, and I have just one question to ask before >I really even get into it.
