Suddenly can''t access the puppetmaster anymore
Hi,
I have a number of puppets talking to 1 puppetmaster. Everything was
working fine until suddenly this week the puppets are revolting.
Whenever I try to run ''puppetd -v'' I see a lot of messages like:
Certificates were not trusted: hostname was not match
I''m sure I did not make any changes to DNS lately and I didn''t upgrade
puppet on any of the machines (actually I did that now on one of the...

1.4 sounds long space before and after prompt
Is anyone else finding in the new audio files that the longer space
at the beginning and end of the files tends to be extremely irritating?
An excellent example is when going into voicemail and Allison says how
many messages you have, the space between the files is annoyingly long:
you have ...... four ...... old ...... messages
..and..
first ...... message ...... received ..... July .....

long delay when connecting to samba server
...Network Places.
samba server appears as expected.
double-clicking on the samba server causes a delay of approximately
one minute before share drives are listed.
Once the shares are listed, browsing is very fast.
I am VERY confused by this behavior. I need to resolve it quickly.
My users are revolting!
What might cause such a huge delay in accessing Samba?
My env uses an Active Directory server for authentication, and so I
am running smbd, nmbd, and winbindd. I have cranked up the log level
to see a lot of action in the log files. I attempted a connection on

Freebsd + NT
I am currently integrating Freebsd in a predominately NT network. I am
interested in using NT as a domain controller then using samba on the other
servers. I know that samba supports this and you can set security = server,
but what I am also interested in is using the password list for the passwd
file as well. So in theory I would like to download the NT user and pass
list much like NT's

Problems/patches for BSD/OS 4.0.1
Two small problems with 2.2.0p1 on BSD/OS 4.0.1, both invoving the
internal entropy collector:
1) The ``ls'' commands in ssh_prng_cmds.in all use -n, which isn't valid
on BSD/OS and thus caused them all to fail when fixprogs checked them.
BSD/OS does, however, have a -T flag which gives complete timestamp
information (month, day, year, hour, minute, and second), which seems
like a

the nsw story, revisited
John,

Nuno,
David,
Thanks for the tip, below are the relevant posts from the archives.
I am suggesting something similar to Dan's third option below (Tue Nov 29 2011
"the nsw story”, Dan Gohman), when hoisting an instruction with ‘nsw’ it looses
the ‘nsw’ attribute, but without saying “add-nsw is a fully side-effecting
instruction”.
This option was back then seen by

Freebsd + NT/Nt-Client am Linux-Server
Pam_SMB allows Linux clients to validate
their passwords against an NT PDC, so the
only thing you have to do is set up the
accounts on the Linux side with an '*'
in the /etc/passwd entry. This can be
done using a list of users:
#!/bin/bash
for i in `cat myuserlist`; do
/usr/sbin/adduser -p '*' $i
with various other command line options,
such as "-s

[LLVMdev] The nsw story
The old and popular tradition of "int" being the default all-purpose type
in C hit a snag with the arrival of 64-bit general-purpose architectures,
when, for reasons of memory usage and compatibility, "int" was fixed
at 32 bits. This meant it was no longer the same size as a pointer, the
size of an array index, or the widest native integer type. (Sequence of
events simplified

Some architecture questions for my mongrelian friends
Hey,
I''m working on a project, and mongrel may be part of the stack, but
I''ve got some more general questions and ideas I''m hoping to run by
this list. The people on this list have a broader knowledgebase and
more experience than any place else I know - plus a general
friendliness and willingness to help!
I''m working with a company who has a really antique
