Oops
Hello everybody, I've my Gentoo's /usr/portage on a loopback btrfs. Just wanted to sync and got an oops. I've a rsync and a ls process in status D now. The system has been in suspend (tuxonice 3.0-rc3) with mounted btrfs, perhaps that is related? nVidia ION on Acer Revo out of signal after boot.
I think you want kernel 4.10, or cherry-pick upstream commit 7dfee6827780d4228148263545af936d0cae8930. Rserve compilation error
Hi, I am trying to install Rserve 1.7-0 on CentOS 6. But I get this compilation error - /usr/lib64/Revo-5.0/R-2.13.2/lib64/R/lib/libiomp5.so: undefined reference to `pthread_atfork' I tried other versions of Rserve (0.6-5 and 0.6-8) without any success. How do I get around this issue? My goal is to run FastRWeb (which uses Rserve). Thanks in advance. Joydeep. -- View this message in context: h...

revolution mkl with R 3.01 on Ubuntu 13.04
So I have two Dell power-edge machines running latest Ubuntu (13.04) with latest version of R (3.01). I installed revolution-mkl on one machine (T-410) and it works fine. On the second machine (T-620), it says the latest version of revolution-mkl is installed, but I'm getting no multi-processor functioning (R-benchmark-25.R) runs on a single processor and takes same amount of time before and after installi...

Testing for Windows malware under Wine
...mission critical, I decided to throw caution to the winds and installed the 'product'. One behavior of malware is that it purposely does not uninstall cleanly or at all. Sure enough, the wine uninstaller could not remove any of the Ascentive crap. Just for grins, I installed CCleaner and Revo Uninstaller - they could remove evidence from the wine Uninstall dialog but the app menus still remain. Looks like apt-get autoremove wine, install wine, here we come. Has anyone else tried this? Any hints for removing orphan menus?

Who uses R with multicore, SNOW or CUDA package for resource intense computing?
Hi, who of you in this forum uses R (http://www.r-project.org/) with the multicore, SNOW or CUDA packages, so for advanced calculations that need more power than a workstation CPU? On which hardware do you compute these scripts? At home/ at work or do you have data center access somewhere? The background of these questions is the following: I am currently writing my M.Sc. thesis about R and

nVidia ION on Acer Revo out of signal after boot.
Hi, I am changing from proprietary nvidia drivers to Nouveau drivers in my mediacenter. I run a Gentoo linux in this hardware and I am facing an out of signal screen just after the boot (when the nouveau module is loaded). If I blacklist this module and modprobe it in the prompt, the screen gets out of signal in my 1080p TV in this moment. I tried recompile the kernel enabling and disabling a

slightly offtopic, uninstalling edcast
Hi all, I have edcast on my computer, but I didn't check the box to install the mp3 encoder, and it is not installing correctly after it has been deleted from the location it is installed in. It doesn't show up in the control panel list, so can't do anything about it there. How do I completely remove edcast from my machine and start over? -------------- next part -------------- An

Sangoma U100 failing every Monday - USB port problem or Wanrouter issue?
Hi Everyone, We are using two Sangoma U100 (USB FXO) units connected to an Acer Aspire Revo (little PC running on Atom). The units work beautifully except for Monday :-) It maybe a conincedence or maybe the fact that Saturday/Sunday is off and something happens where one of these U100 modules goes into sleep and that's when all the 4 Dahdi channels are lost. So, I have been getting...

Special BLAS and explcit parallel code
Hi I just read the thread on gotoBLAS, as well as the excellent vignette of gcbd. I still have some confusion and would like to ask very basic questions, hope I am not taking too much of your time. The point that retained my attention was the question of using implicit (multi-threaded blas) versus explicit (parallel code) optimisation. As I understood, the ideal would be to use a

doMC - compiler - concatenate an expression vector into a single expression?
Hi, this post is about foreach operators, the compiler package and the last update of doMC that includes support for the compiler functionality. I am using a home-made %dopar%-like operator that adds some custom expression to be executed before the foreach loop expression itself (see sample code below). It used to work perfectly with doMC 1.2.1, but with the introduction of the compiler
