set to 0. (Changing rx and tx gain to +3 db and repeating the test
resulted in a measured -30.5db signal, but these settings create
unwanted echo issues. Therefore adjusting channel gain is not an
option.)
The end result is that retreiving any voicemail message left from
a distant location and retreived from a distant location can hardly
be heard. By adding the proposed voicemail=6.0 statement to the
appropriate channel, any calls connected to voicemail via that
channel would effectively increase transmission levels by 6db (or
whatever the setting happened to be). In this example case, the

LDAP: bind to LDAP server instead of retreiving a password from it?
Hi,
Dovecot currently treats an LDAP user/password database the same way as a text
or SQL based database: it just tries to retreive the (hashed) password for a
given username. LDAP however has the capability to authenticate the user
itself: dovecot could try to bind to LDAP with the given username and password,
and if authentication succeeded, the LDAP server returns the other info (uid,

retreiving callid of call from the dial application
Hi,
I am making calls from the dial plan using the dial application. Due to
technical requirements I need to find out the sip call-id used in the dialog
initiated by the dial application. I dont see any straight forward way of
doing this so I am looking for answers. There is a sip callid session
variable but the problems is that dial is a blocking call and the dialog
ends when dial returns.

curve fitted ... how to retreive data
Dear R users,
I have now managed to fit the curve using the thin plate spline as follows:
library(mgcv)
b <- gam(y~s(x1,x2,k=100),data =dat)
vis.gam(b)
What I want now is to get the fitted data for y and copy it so that I use it for further analysis.
Many thanks in advance

Retreive and Play Voicemail name
HI,
In Asterisk 1.0.9...
I'd like, as a part of the dialplan, to retrieve and play the voicemail
name.
It would be played to the user before the password prompt.
1. User dials voicemail
2. Test ${CALLERIDNUM} for proper range
3. based on ${CALLERIDNUM} play the voicemail name
4. run VoiceMailMain(${CALLERIDNUM}
I know where the names are... down in /var/spool/asterisk... but before I

Query about data manipulation
Hi
Thanks much for the prompt response to my earlier
enquiry on packages for regression analyses.
Along the same topic(?), I have another question about
which I could use some input.
I am retreiving data from a MySQL database using
RODBC.
The table has many BLOB columns and each BLOB column
has data in the format
"id1 \t id2 \t measure \n id3 \t id4 \t measure...."
(i.e. multiple rows

winbindd hangs up while retreiving usernames.
Hello.
I'm installing new FreeBSD 6.2-RELEASE, based on intel machine. Firewall
type is OPEN.
I have Windows Server 2000 with Active Directory on it, working in Native
mode.
I've installed samba-3.0.23c_2,1 from /usr/ports/net/samba3
prefix=/usr/local
without krb-1.5.1 being installed.
Added:

Cisco 7960 Line rollover for secretary's phone.
...ting to set up a Cisco 7960 (SIP) so that if the user is on
a call, other incoming calls will ring through to her phone and can be
answered. So far I have only been able to get this working by using the
call-waiting function, which is cumbersome and does not properly allow the
first call to be retreived. Is there a better way to do this?
Thanks in advance.

Mixing POP and IMAP
Hi,
I run a small site, about a dozen users, and many of the users POP their mail.
I have just installed Squirrelmail which uses IMAP. Has anyone had any
significant problems with mixing POP and IMAP for mail retreival?
Your feedback is greatly apprecianted,

WINS querying (Advanced)
Hi all...
I need to make a few queries to WINS, but am unsure how to do so.
'nmblookup' will allow me to enter an IP address and get information about
the machine name, domain, and username. I want to do the opposite...I would
like to have a tool that will take a username and return the IP address.
I know this information is stored in WINS somehow, and I am capable of
writing some Perl

USB HID - interrupt reports
Since reports received over the interrupt pipeline are a recurring problem
for various types of UPS'es, I propose to simply ignore the data we
receive there and only flush the respective report buffer. By doing so, at
the time the interrupt reports are processed the first variable that is
retreived will trigger a poll for the corresponding feature report and we
should be fine. The impact on existing bahaviour is limited to one
additional poll per report received over the interrupt pipeline.
Effectively, we will only use polling from then on.
Best regards, Arjen
