Questions on the state of the UPS market
As previously noted, I need to replace a UPS and want to do my
product research in public so others can benefit. The information
I elicit on this thread will be merged into the UPS-HOWTO.
I went to my local computer-equiuipment big-box store, a place called
MicroCenter in Ardmore, Pennsylvania. I looked at the range of "UPS"
devices they sell and was *completely* confused.

Dial, RING with a digit interrupt
This is a new post, but its really a three-time retread. I hope someone has a clue on this, as it could be helpful in many circumstances:
I am looking for a way to dial 'special' an extension (in house, like 102), which are all Polycom IP. I'd like to ring the extension as normal, but have the option of, while the line is ringing, to press a digit, hop out to a new context and/or

Problems sharing HP Officejet 6210 Linux --> XP
[cross-posted from www.tek-tips.com]
Dear samba forum,
I've now wasted most of a weekend on this issue, so now it's time to swallow
my pride and ask for help!
Background:
My main home computer died. I can't afford to replace it right now, so I'm
attempting to retread an old AMD PC into a linux print/file server. Clients
are a mixed bag of Windows XP home/professional PCs. The

draft-miller-ssh-agent-02: extensions and success messages
Hi,
I've been reading the RFC draft for the OpenSSH agent protocol and
trying to understand the extension mechanism. It seems like a client,
after sending an extension message, will have to then interpret any
following success (0x6) message differently according to the extension
request just sent. The example with the "query" extension returning a
success message with extra data

[Fwd: Re: Regarding non-streaming Ogg]
[pardon me if this retreads some ground, but I'm just getting up to speed on this issue]
so am I to understand --
application/ogg is for downloading, and will invoke an app that supposedly can parse *any* ogg file --
audio/vorbis is for streaming -- but this is narrowly defined as vorbis audio only. Presumably the thinking is that a streaming application is likely to be less

software raid - better management advice needed
Hi,
I've used mdadm for years now to manage software raids.
The task of using fdisk to first create partitions on a spare drive
sitting on a shelf (raid 0 were my 1st of 2 drives failed) is kind of
bugging me now.
After using fdisk to create the same partition layout on the new drive
as is on the existing drive and then using mdadm to finish every thing
up is a little tedious.
