GlusterFS as virtual machine storage
...y plan: I want to setup a 2-node cluster, where VM runs on the nodes
themselves and can be live-migrated on demand.
I have some questions:
- do you use GlusterFS for similar setup?
- if so, how do you feel about it?
- if a node crashes/reboots, how the system re-syncs? Will the VM files
be fully resynchronized, or the live node keeps some sort of write
bitmap to resynchronize changed/written chunks only? (note: I know about
sharding, but I would like to avoid it);
- finally, how much stable is the system?
Thanks.

Question about domain controller replication limit
...synchronization
of domain controller turned off for a long time (like some days)? If yes
what should be the time limit and what is better do when need to poweron
domain controller that has passed that time?
Can there be issue with one domain controller restored from backup or it
will be simply resynchronized? Can there be different with windows
domain controller (and there are different if it is the pdc or not)?
(where is more probable restore for other issue not related to domain
itself)
I know there was important drs changes in samba 4.5, if the answer are

changing time in dom0
Hi all!
I want to adjust the time in dom0 with a cronjob (rdate & hwclock). Will
that affect my domU? Is it possible to resynchronize the time on a
"xen-way"?

Diff problem
...hecksum" options, it took each time a lot
of time since rsync "mdsum" each file contained in my directories.
Then I decided to skip "--checksum" option to let rsync work only of files
size and files mtime and speed up the process but when i launch
a dry-run : rsync wants to resynchronize a lot of my files.
I don't understand because my 2 remote directories are already exactly the
same (same files which have same sizes and same mtime).
Where i'm wrong ?
Thanks very much for your help.

What's happend when the UID/SID mapping changes for a computer account ?
Hi,
Could you please tell me, what's happend when the UID/SID mapping
changes for a computer account ?
In my previous mail, I explain that suddenly every computers of my
domain was unable to connect to our samba logon server.
Before this problem, a 'net rpc vampire' was done to resynchronize the
samba ldap-sam with the NT4 PDC, and samba has been restarted, I suspect
that after this operation the UID/SID idmap mapping has been changed !
What do you think ?
Thank you for your help !

Replication problem
...timeout for 600 seconds.
The link between the two servers is quite slow and multiple sync are
done in parallel leading to congested link.
I can't replicate with rsync as change in the mdbox has been done on the
two servers to get back to a working state.
What do you think could be done to resynchronized the two dovecot
server. Another question is what is this timeout ? Timeout of
communication i.e no data received during 600 seconds ( to me that looks
unlikely ) or 600 seconds for doing the full sync or 600 seconds for one
mail sync.
Thanks for any help.

Vincent

any recent experience combining GlusterFS w/ Xen?
Hi Folks,
Anybody have any recent experience building a small cluster that
combines GlusterFS and Xen (with bonus points for a Debian environment)?
We''re getting ready to shift from a 2-node Xen/Pacemaker/DRBD
environment to a 4-node environment - and I''d really like to be able to
create/migrate/failover/delete VMs transparently across all 4 nodes.
Seems like Gluster might

About Sampling Rate Correction in acoustic echo cancellation
...matches between the clocks for the capture and render streams, and separate devices can be used for capture and rendering.
There is also a IEEE paper, Adaptive Sampling Rate Correction for Acoustic Echo Control in Voice-Over-IP, which introduced a complex method to estimate the frequency offset and resynchronize the signals using arbitrary sampling rate conversion. I wonder if it can provide enough performance. Because I have also designed a sampling rate converter. After tested the offset accurately, it can reduce the offset to less than 0.1Hz, then the signal after resampling is send to speex AEC. But th...

audio pause/delay problems
...way. It runs fine
when the SIP client is on the local network and there is not packet
loss. But now I've tried running a remote client (halfway around the
globe) -- this works great until some packets get lost. After that it
seems that either my client (linphone) or Asterisk doesn't want to
resynchronize -- what gets played back is all voice packets as they have
been received. This creates an increasing lag in the conversation and
the only way I've found to fix it is to disconnect and reconnect again.
Is anyone else seeing this? Is it linphone's fault, or is it expected
behavior?
Now, I h...

[LLVMdev] GIT mirroring
.../git-svn branch fetched from the origin.
To update I run:
$ git fetch
$ git svn rebase -l
And to commit:
$ git svn dcommit
$ git fetch
$ git svn rebase -l
I have sometimes seen git-svn refusing to dcommit, claiming that I have uncommitted files in my tree. I think this happens when I forget to resynchronize the metadata after committing. Anyway, the solution is to wipe away all of .git/svn and rebuild it with "git svn rebase -l"

[LLVMdev] GIT mirroring
Hello Everyone,
It seems given the decent amount of discussions it's time to make
small announcement.
So, official git mirrors are available for some subset of LLVM
projects. They were used by some LLVM developers for couple of months
already and seem to be stable enough.
Right now there is a mirroring for LLVM itself and clang. More can be
added per requests. The mirrors are made via

Synchronizing a streaming client to the server Was: Idea to possibly improve flac?
...have some way to reset the alignment without dropping or adding
samples. As I said above, if the broadcast server were to put flags
in the stream to indicate silent breaks in the audio, then the
playback client could drop silent samples or insert silent samples
until the two time lines are resynchronized. But, since this would
only add or remove silence, there should be absolutely no audible
glitch. Perhaps the stream would need more than simple silent flags,
or resync flags. It might be necessary to transmit an actual running
time line counter, with enough bits to count the longest str...

What PDC ? are you running an NT4-style DC as well ?
No I thought not, it is just your first DC and just because it is your
first DC doesn't mean it holds any FSMO roles.
Will the...
