Chain loading to another PXE server?
...s to provision
servers by applying an image to them, rather than having to wait for
Linux or Windows to install and then manually doing all the
configuration.
The drawback is that it only works with its own (proprietary) PXE
server. But we still want to keep our pxelinux system around for
booting resuce mode, etc.
What I'd like to do is have one boot option in pxelinux be "Boot to
Acronis Snap Deploy" which would then direct the machine to the Snap
Deploy PXE server and boot with that one as normal.
But from what I've seen, there is no way to do this. Is that correct,
or am I...

Loading drivers during "linux rescue"
...rddrives.
Problem that I assumed that the card had kernel drivers, which it has but only from 2.6.39 onwards.
I installed the kmod-aacraid drivers, they see the card and drives, fine.
However, I need to get a "linux rescue" to work, thus I need to load the drivers during the boot of the resuce disk.
How do I do this?
thanks

Cannot boot CentOS 7 VM after updating Host CentOS 7 Kernel

So the CentOS DVD iso in linux rescue mode shows that everything is
there and can be mounted. I guess that means somehow either grub itself
is corrupted or one of the boot images. So is there a way for me to
generate a new initrd while booted in linux resuce mode or will
re-installing grub help? How would I attempt re-installing grub while
booted in linux rescue mode?

Rescuing from REXML::ParseException
Hello,
When I call an action with some invalid XML or JSON data a parse
exception gets raised from within Rails/Ruby (REXML or
ActiveSupport::JSON). The problem that I''ve got is how to handle these
exceptions. In my application_controller.rb I have the following for
debugging purposes:
def rescue_action_in_public(exception)

LSI software raid with centos 5.4
Hi,
I have been trying to install CentOS 5.4 on a Intel SR1530SHS, Intel S3200SH
mainboard.. It has a 3 x 1TB sata hotswap drives with LSI software raid
onboard.
I had configured the LSI to have Sata0 and Sata1 with raid 1 and the third
drive as a hotspare drive.
Format the harddisk and installation was a breeze. The server rebooted into
a blank screen and the cursor just keep blinking.
Please

Boot disk order: h/w vs. grub
...length
of time more than just a few seconds, when it comes back up, it can't
find the boot image.
I forgot how I got around this the first time. The second time, when
it wasn't booting past the "GRUB" part of the grub announcement, I
used the installation disk, booted into linux resuce mode, chroot'd to
the actual system disk and re-did grub-install. Still, a few days
later (last Tuesday) when my video card went south, I just edited the
grub boot line to use root(hd2, 0) and it came up, followed by several
reboots with unmodified grub config lines.
I guess I'm wondering...

How to move my MBR
I removed an ATA drive (/home) for a new SATA and my system would not
boot. I'm guessing that it put the MBR on that drive instead of the
drive that holds the / partition. What's the best way confirm where
the MBR resides and, after I verify that's my problem, how I can move
(or make a copy) onto a different drive?
Thanks,
Scott

help!: can't resize partition ("rather strange layout")
...unately, in my frantic state to see if my data was still there, I clicked through the error messages without writing them down - there was something about inodes and superblocks (I know, not very helpful). After this, parition magic showed the entire drive as "Bad". Booting onto my redhat resuce CD, I was relieved to find that my root parition was still there and readable, still listed as parition 3. 1 was gone, and 2 was there, but unmountable, and parted said something about it not ending on a cylinder (i think?) boundary. I deleted this bad parition, and ran the phoebe 3 installer (whic...
