How long should resize2fs take?
Hullo! First mail, sorry if this is the wrong place for this kind of question. I realise this is a "piece of string" type question. tl;dr version: I have a resizefs shrinking an ext4 filesystem from ~4TB to ~3TB and it's been running for ~2 days. Is this normal? Dual boot with Windows 8.1, UEFI
...revious occasions - get into the BIOS, change the boot order, boot a CentOS 6 installation CD as used on my desktop, go into rescue mode and look at the partitions. Normally I'd use fdisk, but that says it doesn't understand GPT and I should use parted. There's 5 partitions, so I use resizefs to shrink the main NTFS data partition, then delete the partition and recreate it shorter at the same start location. Hi, I added additional storage to my domU using xm block-attach and tap:aio. Then increased my root device (using vgextend, lvextend and resizefs) which is / or /dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol00. Centos7 - remove /home and expand / after install?
I did a default install and after installing some other things I realized that a lot of space was allocated to /home as an lvm that is never going to be used. Is it possible to remove the lvm and grow the root (xfs) filesystem without starting over? -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell at gmail.com

LVM lvresize/lvextend requires some space in /etc to grow a logical volume?
Side note: In CentOS-6, I noticed a new option in lvresize / lvextend: -r, --resizefs Resize underlying filesystem together with the logical volume using fsadm(8). Nice. Resizing est4 filesystem while mounted
Greetings - I had a logical volume that was running out of space on a virtual machine. I successfully expanded the LV using lvextend, and lvdisplay shows that it has been expanded. Then I went to expand the filesystem to fill the new space (# resize2fs -p /dev/vde1) and I get the results that the filesystem is already xx blocks long, nothing to do. I''ve installed debian lenny amd64, it is frozen now. I''ve install kernel for xen support but it doesn''t start. It says "you need to load kernel first" but I''ve installed all the packages concerning xen, also packages related to the kernel. Perhaps lenny doesn''t support xen anymore? Any solution?
