Windows 7 samba domain trust relatioshiop
...trust relationship error. In my eventlog I see the following: The session setup to the Windows NT or Windows 2000 Domain Controller \\VS_LDAP1 for the domain RADIMG failed because \\VS_LDAP1 does not support signing or sealing the Netlogon session. Either upgrade the Domain controller or set the RequireSignOrSeal registry entry on this machine to 0. \\VS_LDAP1 is the BDC if that matters. I am using a ldap domain with ssl off. I tried against the wiki advice to set the RequireSignOrSeal to 0 but that gave me a different error: This computer could not authenticate with \\VS_LDAP1, a Windows domain control...

XP troubles
I've recently recompiled and reinstalled the latest Samba because the version I was running wouldn't talk to Windows XP. It still won't. Can anyone direct me to any docs, howtos, or other docs concerning WinXP problems? Thanks... God's Blessings, Gene To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven. Windows XP with Samba Ldap.
My Ldap Admin password is correct in secrets.tdb and I can logon in Win 9x, but not in Win XP. The option "RequireSignOrSeal"= dword:00000000 is ok. The WinXP can found the Samba Domain, but not the user/password. When I logon in Network place the password is correct and I can view the user files. Any ideas why I cannot logon in Win XP ? Thank's. WinXP PDC logon problem...
...is. I have a WinXP (latest patch levels) PC which I want to join to the domain. I can successfully join the domain using root authentication, but I am unable to logon with any of my NIS users (stored in both /etc/passwd and smbpasswd)...? I've seen a comment to edit a Windows registry setting (requiresignorseal) and I tried this, but nothing changed. Is there a solution to this issue, or will I be fored back to the hell of an Active Directory/WinNT PDC? :( Cheers, Ryan :-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:- ,-_|\ Ryan Lohan Email : ryan.lohan@sun....

Windows XP connects as guest instead of letting me choose the username / password
...sername & -password to access the share. What I get: I get a dialog with the username "Guest", greyed out, asking me for a password. My question: WHY does XP always assume I want to access the share as "Guest"? Can I disable this behavior somehow? What I tried: - set requiresignorseal = 0 in XP registry - set security to SHARE in smb.conf - disabled XP simple file sharing - registered the username/password combo with samba using smbpasswd Has anyone had this problem before? Any suggestions? Thank you very much, Sebastian

WinXP Client with Samba 2.2.3a PDC
I am having trouble with everything *except* joining the client to the domain. WinXP Pro clients join the domain via the Samba-PDC howto, all works well. Trying to browse other domain resources or attempts to logon via the "domain" bring up this error in log.smbd: [2002/03/14 01:14:36, 0] rpc_server/srv_samr.c:api_samr_set_userinfo(670) api_samr_set_userinfo: Unable to unmarshall

Samba + XP = no go
...mba running on a FreeBSD 4.5-STABLE box. Basically, I add user accounts, machine accounts (with both "pw" and "smbpasswd"), then I can get the XP machines to successfully join a domain. On reboot, they refuse to login. I've tried editing the registry and changing the "requiresignorseal" key from 1 to 0. Doesn't help. I was running whatever samba was in freebsd's ports a few days ago (2.2.4 I believe) but I've compiled the latest SAMBA_2_2 branch from CVS last night (2.2.5-pre), but im getting exactly the same problem as before. My SMB.CONF is below. Thanks. -...

I am running Red Hat 9 and Samba 3.0.4. I have a Win2K PC. I have made the registry change regarding requiresignorseal and signsecurechannel. When I try to join the domain it pops up the username and password. I put in root and it's password (which I have added/enabled with Swat). However I get the following results.
