VNC server not reponding to external requests
Hello everyone: I tried following the instructions on this page to set up a VNC server: http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/VNC-Server I can telnet to port 5901 from the machine itself: # telnet 127.0.0.1 5901 Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to 127.0.0.1. Escape character is '^]'. RFB 003.008 But, when I try to connect to it from the outside world, I get a connection timeout. My

any recent experience combining GlusterFS w/ Xen?
Hi Folks, Anybody have any recent experience building a small cluster that combines GlusterFS and Xen (with bonus points for a Debian environment)? We''re getting ready to shift from a 2-node Xen/Pacemaker/DRBD environment to a 4-node environment - and I''d really like to be able to create/migrate/failover/delete VMs transparently across all 4 nodes. Seems like Gluster might

NFS sleepy woes
...e no problem with the fedora1, RH9 and slackware machines they just never do this. its most annoying.. they all use IP's not names. all access lists are identical, all hosts files are identical, all exports and fstabs are same format. in fact one of the machines on another network altogether reponds instantly. if I reboot *shudder* the CentOS box it fixes it, temporarily, but thats a joke, the hardware is fine, it used to run slackware smoothly, I hope I dont have to go back to it :) TIA

Miredo server for Centos 6
On delving deeper into Miredo support, it seems that Miredo Server is a separate program from the Miredo client/relay. And that there is no Miredo Server available for Centos 6. Not in EPEL 6, or repoforge. So far the maintainer of Miredo for Fedora/EPEL has not reponded to a query on its status for EPEL 6. I have to ask on repoforge about miredo-server. Anyone know of anywhere else to look? I suppose I can bring up a Fedora 20 box, as this is 'just' a testbed. But to move the testbed out of my network into the corp testbed, I need it for Centos....

T38 REINVITe issue
Hi My call flow is T38 static IP gateway --> Asterisk --> Sip Provider--> PSTN Call is placed in reverse direction - from PSTN to T38 Gateway. T38 GW reinvites with T38, and asterisk passes it along to the SIP provider. The SIP provider challenges it and asterisk reponds to the Challenge with INVITE with Auth credentials...however, the Asterisk changes the SDP and replaces the T38 info in SDP with G711uLaw....and fax fails. How do I configure the host entry in users.conf such that it maintains the T38 reinvite as it responds to the SIP INVITE challenge from the Si...

Rails, FCGI, Dreamhost
...ten minutes), and still have to kill some number of excess dispatch.fcgi processes every day. Along with this, I get somewhere between five and eight glitches a day -- 500 errors and timeouts, mostly -- as reported by the ping script (which barely touches the app, just makes sure it''s reponding) I suspect this is due to their use of dynamic FCGI allocation, along with what is probably a too-short timeout on the FCGI processes for Rails apps. >From what I''ve found in searching the web, the only way this will work controllably is if they use Apache to proxy for my own li...

UNIX with samba .vs. native Windows Server , how to compare thei r performance for Windows-biased management
...9;t online yet, I had to temporarily host the data on my SGI cluster, a duo of servers that was running samba with winbind and domain authentication. It was a very nice setup, either server in the pair could serve the files, and we made user login scripts mount the shares from whichever server reponded first. When we had to take the primary server down for maintenance, we switched the login script to point them to the secondary server's shares, had them log out and back in. While they worked happily off of the secondary server, we did a half day's worth of maintenance on the primary...

changing clock on host temporarily blocks guest OS operation
I have the following running on my system: - one linux host running libvirt 1.2.20 - two Linux guestOS VMs running When I change the clock on the host, the VMs stop responding: The VNC connection stops working, the console connection to the VMs does not work, ping stops reponding, libvirt commands temporarily stop working (after issuing the command, the system just hangs). I get control back after 5 min or so, but I have to restart the VMs for everything to work again. Any ideas what's causing this? Is this a know bug? Is there a fix for it? Thanks in advance, And...

feature-request: fs mounted only once
...if one could guarantee that a filsystem is only mounted by one computer. I guess this _might__maybe_ be implemented by using a block on the filsystem as "ping"-block. Mount would write a "ping" to this block, The kernel would then have to check this block, say, each second and repond to ping by writing a "pong". This, of course, only makes sense when the filsystem in an unclean state. -- There are only 10 different kinds of people in the world, those who understand binary, and those who don't.

So SLOW WindowsXPs on a Samba PDC
Hello , I know its very tedious solving problems MS has on a Linux based Software A Windows XP machine without SP1 , Worked Fine until one day , everything is so SLOW , every mouse click reponds after 3-4 minutes , this account logs to a samba PDC , If its a PDC or samba problem then why is it so slow on stuff done locally on the computer , i scanned the PC with an Updated norton , and defragged it , checked HDD for errors , the thing is there is another XP starting to behave the same...

bayesian mixed logit
Dear all, I am writing an R code to fit a Bayesian mixed logit (BML) via MCMC / MH algorithms following Train (2009, ch. 12). Unfortunately, after many draws the covariance matrix of the correlated random parameters tend to become a matrix with almost perfect correlation, so I think there is a bug in the code I wrote but I do not seem to be able to find it.. dull I know. Has anybody written a

PATCH: add FLAC__SSE_SUPPORTED and FLAC__SSE2_SUPPORTED
Currently the only way to compile FLAC using GCC w/o SSE support is to disable asm optimizations (see configure.ac): if test "x$asm_optimisation" = "xyes" ; then XIPH_ADD_CFLAGS([-msse2]) fi Also it's not possible to enable SSE4.1 intrinsic functions even with -msse4.1 option. The patch fixes both problems. --------------- BTW: I'm not sure that share/compat.h
