Hi. I'm trying to install the latest version of syslinux on a FAT12 partition on a 16M Flash disk. However, despire reformatting, repartioning, and running both lock c: and fdisk /mbr, I keep receiving an "ERROR 440D: Unable to lock drive for exclusive access" message. Do you have any suggestions on how to bypass this problem? Please respond ASAP. Thanks, Mario Di Giacomo

I have a system that is RAID -1 configured as /dev/md0 is /dev/hda1 /dev/hdb1 /dev/md1 is /dev/hdb3 /dev/hdb3 it seems as though /dev/hda has failed.... I have another disk (identical model) that I can replace hda with. I know about the commands fdisk to repartion and raidhotadd /dev/md0 /dev/hda1 and raidhotadd /dev/md1 /dev/hda3 (to be ran after the system boots). BUT... how do I now get

hi I recently got ubuntu dapper, very good... The only problem is i didn't give myself enough diskspace to install anything decent (and can't be bothered repartioning) and so i want to be able to use my existing installation of windows as wine... Is this possible and if it were possible, would this eliminate problems associated with using wine? (such as programs not working properly)

Has anyone actually used a SSD in a Centos setup? My little experiment with a s/h WD drive for /tmp and SWAP partitions kicked the bucket on Wednesday, when the poor WD drive caught the click-of-death. It was a s/h drive to start with and lasted about 4 months. But that was without the /var/log/ partition being written to it, as I mounted that back onto /var/log from the original drive. So
