Sysvol: users - access denied
Hello,
I have a question regarding to access permissions.
Recently I have upgraded my DC from version 41.12 to 4.1.21. This weekend I
have decided to upgrade to 4.3.3.
I have noticed that my users weren't able to access the sysvol share after
the upgraded to 4.3.3.
As a test I have created a new user "test" and I was able to open the
sysvol share without any issues.
Next I have

aaf and dynamic attrs: a bug?
Hi!
I faced some issue while using it for dynamic attrs indexing/search.
Maybe I made something wrong. Here is test method. Everything works just
fine until last line http://pastie.caboo.se/66274 . Tested on both
stable and trunk of aaf and ferret 0.11.4.

request: add TCP buffer options to rsync CLI?
...n the rsync socket.c code
available to rsyncd.conf.
If I've totally missed something, and such functionality is already
available, my apologies (but I'd appreciate a pointer!)

More detail:
I was helping resolve a throughput issue between a research network
in France (Renater), and FermiLab in the US (Tridge- Dan Yokum says "hi!").
FermiLab distributes data from the Sloane Digital Sky Survey (SDSS)
using rsync. (cf. www.sdss.org, and
http://www.sdss.org/dr4/access/index.html
for the rsync reference).
Renater was using rsync to pull large amounts...

VM's in a HA-configuration - synchronising vm config files
Hi,
i'd like to establish a HA-Cluster with two nodes. My services will run inside vm's, the vm's are stored on a FC SAN, so every host has access to the vm's. But how can i keep the config files (xml-files under /etc/libvirt/qemu) synchronised ? Is there a possibility to store the config files somewhere else ? E.g. a partitition with ocfs2 on the SAN ?
If not, what would you do

COM port for weatherstation
Hi,
we are running some Debian-linux boxes and want to run a
Feger-weatherstation under wine to get the weatherdata directly on the
same server as our semi-public weather web (http//81.33.7.96).
I installed wine (version is now 0.0.20040713/1.3) under Debian sarge
and then the Feger software. My windows partition was an empty FAT32
partition.
I cannot get the COM port working and I do not know

[PATCH] x86/vmware: Skip lapic calibration on VMware.
In virtualized environment the APIC timer calibration could go wrong
when the host is overcommitted or the guest is running nested,
this would result in the APIC timers operating at an incorrect frequency.
Since VMware supports a mechanism to retrieve the local APIC frequency
we can ask the hypervisor for it and skip this APIC calibration loop.

[PATCH] x86/vmware: Skip timer_irq_works() check on VMware
The timer_irq_works() boot check may sometimes fail in a VM, when
the Host is overcommitted or when the Guest is running nested.
Since the intended check is unnecessary on VMware's virtual
hardware, this change by-passes it.

which is the config file for a vm ?
Hi,
i have a weird problem. I have a vm (KVM) which seems to run fine. I believe the respective config file for this vm is /etc/libvirt/qemu/MausDB.xml. This is it:

<name>MausDB</name>

request: add TCP buffer options to rsync CLI?
We see absolutely dismal performance from Canberra to Perth via
Aarnet or Grangenet (gig connections across the country). With
standard rsync on a tuned tcp stack, we see about 700k/s. I started
playing with the --sockopts and have increased the performance to
1.4M/s which is better, but still way off the pace.
There are similar patches for ssh at
