What about inserting something into your command string to duplicate
what you expect a telnet prompt to do:
echo "command -a;echo ###DONE###;command -b;echo ###DONE###" | ssh
remotuser at host | grep '^###DONE###$' | ( while read line; do echo
"Anotherone bitesthedust..."; done )
