[docs] Updating the sphinx build bots
Hi, Thanks for bringing this up. I am reluctant to update to recommonmark >= 0.4.0, because it is not available in any Ubuntu version, Debian Testing or even Debian Unstable. While we could do something custom on the buildbot, I think it would be a disservice for our users to use a library that is not packaged in modern operating systems yet. Dmitri

[OT] how do I remove a battery
I've got an MSI K9N Platinum MS 7250 VER 1.1 motherboard with a dead battery. The battery mounts vertically: http://www.cs.ndsu.nodak.edu/~hennebry/computer/battery.png To me, the tab on the right would seem to need moving. It does not want to move. I am reluctant to apply any more force than I already have without knowing how to apply it. How do I remove the battery? -- Michael hennebry

Auth failure messages
Folks I am using sendmail as my mail server. SELINUX is disabled. I observe messages in Centos 7 (and 6) in /var/log/messages, similar to: saslauthd[2765]: do_auth : auth failure: [user=bettie] [service=smtp] [realm=] [mech=pam] [reason=PAM auth error] I guess that this is because somebody tried to access one of the SMTP ports with a logon attempt. This is understandable; there are

Missing scaffold features
Hello everyone, First off, I''m trying to generate a discussion here, not provoke an argument or get people upset. Please bear this in mind if/as you read on... To my mind, there''s 3 missing features from scaffolds that would make them a whole lot more useful. These are: - auto-generation of a drop-down list for inputting/updating has_many/belongs_to relationships between

nfs stuck, don't know what processes to kill
My NFS server is up and other clients can access x. One particular client can't. I tried to unmount the NFS share: [root at nfsclient ~]# umount -f /disk/x umount2: Device or resource busy umount.nfs: /disk/x: device is busy umount2: Device or resource busy umount.nfs: /disk/x: device is busy If I use df or lsof to try to figure out what process to kill, they hang. I am reluctant to just

Fedora change that will probably affect RHEL
Warren Young wrote: > No, I am making the assumption that the vast majority of CentOS installs > are racked up in datacenters, VPS hosts, etc. Is that true, I wonder? For some reason Fedora and CentOS seem reluctant to find out anything about their users (or what their users want). Is anything known about the ratio of RHEL to CentOS machines? -- Timothy Murphy gayleard /at/

Data frame printing buglet when multiple empty column names
This is admittedly minor, and you shouldn't have repeated names in a data frame anyway, but: df <- data.frame(1:3, 1:3, 1:3) # Ok setNames(df, c("x", "y", "")) # Not ok setNames(df, c("x", "", "")) Hadley -- http://hadley.nz

Annoying license at install
Folks I have several remotely-located servers, donated by folks not all of whom are computer geeks, let-alone Linux aware. In earlier versions of Centos, I directed them to perform a minimal NetInstall (not too difficult to direct over the phone), and then issue two commands after the first boot. One was a 'curl' to download a script of mine, and the second was a dot-command to run

Samba 3.2.0 in Debian "lenny"
After several months of testing in the "experimental" branch of Debian, samba 3.2.0 was uploaded to Debian "unstable" as of July 20th 2008 and entered the "testing" branch of the distribution as of August 1st. As the "testing" branch is the future stable release of the Debian distribution, this means that Samba 3.2.0 will be in the upcoming release of

Ext3 and 3ware RAID5
I run a decent amount of 3ware hardware, all under centos-4. There seems to be some sort of fundamental disagreement between ext3 and 3ware's hardware RAID5 mode that trashes write performance. As a representative example, one current setup is 2 9550SX-12 boards in hardware RAID5 mode (256KB stripe size) with a software RAID0 stripe on top (also 256KB chunks). bonnie++ results look

New CVS for patch...
Ok, here it goes: I know CVS and I know how to program. I don't know much about linux program installation. I have a WORKING asterisk based on CVS from 04/2004. It's running and, as of three days ago, it's in production as well (production = my wife's using it without knowing it). I want to patch voicemail.c to allow for configurable pager-messages. Looked at the code, and I

reluctant to read win95 directory (PR#231)
Using rw0642 under win95, on executing from a directory on the c: drive: system("command.com /c dir", intern=T) there is a whirring from drive a: (empty), then the message appears in a dos box: General failure reading device aLP!!? Abort, Retry, Fail? Repeating the command a few times finally results in success with no whirring, after which there are no failures (even

Dialplan questions...
We have a asterisk installation we are using for a hosted PBX solution.. we chose to use 10 digit extensions... We separated our customers by contexts and have encountered a problem where one customer can't call another using 7 digits.. even if we prepend the area code when 7 digits are dialed... anyone consider reviewing it and making recommendations? Setuid bit always set on Vista mount
Files on my Vista mount always have the S mode (setgid bit?) set according to ls -l. This is a security hole and causes other problems. I can't clear the bit with chmod; in fact the results of doing chmod don't make any sense to me (I'll be glad to provide examples). Typical files show as -rwxrwSrwx, though not all. The smb.conf file has create mask 0666 and directory mask 0777 various

Editor for Mac OSX
Dear R-list I am (forced) to change from Linux to Mac and am now looking for a new editor for R. I would like one that features a split window (console + editor) as well as syntax highlighting. Can anyone help? Especially the split-window feature does not seem to be easily available in the editors desribed on the R-help site, except Emacs, which I am reluctant to start using. I am on a MacBook Air

Cisco 79xx users/consultants, 7970G color in particular share information
I would like to get in contact with users/consultants who are or have worked with the Cisco phones and Asterisk to trade information. Cisco has reluctantly made SIP available on their phones and most of the information on voip-info and other wiki's appears to be reverse engineered. There is a wealth of information out there which is terrific. I have a client with about 40 phones composed of 7970, 7960 and 7906 phones. I've upgraded a...

Revision: post on Intro to R lecture
Hi All: This follows my earlier post on webized slides on lecture presentation on introducing R. I learned that in Mozilla (Firefox) browsers, the slides did not show up. Sorry for the no show. As a reluctant windows user, I kind of carelessly clicked through Powerpoint to convert the presentation file to its html form, unwittingly leading to the mess. See if it got corrected now (I do not have

Importing Accounts from Windows?
Is there some automated system to import windows accounts into a samba or a samba ldap situation? I've got a few hundred users on an NT domain, and I'd like to migrate them sometime before the last piece of hardware supported by NT4 rusts. Right now several linux based samba servers are doing all of the heavy lifting (shared files printers etc), but they are all looking at the domain

apcsmart dev branch
Hi, The devel branch has some long standing updates implemented - mostly a result from past bug/issue reports. Among those: - selectable normal / canonical mode (useful in windows and perhaps with some problematic usb/rs cards) - some compat entries - certain (old) class of psus returning something else through 'b' treated as a whole set - can handle mutlivalue entries (e.g.
