predict lmer
Hi,
I am using lmer to analyze habitat selection in wolverines using the
following model:
(me.fit.of <-
lmer(USED~1+STEP+ALT+ALT2+relM+relM:ALT+(1|ID)+(1|ID:TRKPT2),data=vdata,
control=list(usePQL=TRUE),family=poisson,method="Laplace"))
Here, the habitat selection is calaculated using a so-called discrete
choice model where each used location has a certain number of
alternatives

winbind name service required for active directory (ADS) authentication and group-based authorization?
Hello Samba Gurus,
Is using the winbind name service required in order to get authentication AND authorization via ADS? I'll explain further.
Goal: create samba share for which clients are authenticated via native ADS and access is based on ADS group membership.
I've actually done this in the old Windows NT world. Worked okay. It's wasn't too hard, except for the winbind

mixed problems with samba 4.2.10
I am the IT administrator for a group of researchers at a university. I have two SAMBA servers. One running CentOS 6 and one running CentOS 7. Both are running Samba 4.2.10 (4.2.10-6.el6_7 and 4.2.10-6.el7_2 respectively).
When they were running the previous version of Samba everything worked fine and and both domain bound machines and non-domain bound machines could log in and mount/map both

group share problems with winbindd and samba 3.6.23-30.el6_7
I am the IT administrator for a group of researchers at a university. I have a non-production SAMBA server that I am suddenly needing to press into production temporarily

weighted-ML estimates
Hi,
We are trying to calculate ML-parameter estimates of a mixed effects models
where the observations are weighted. The "weights" option in lmer() with
RELM=FALSE seems attractive. Does anyone know the mechanism it uses to
calculate weighted ML estimates? (Is there a paper?). Also, our model
includes a serial correlation structure(e.g. AR(1)) among the residuals. As
far as I know,

Microsoft CRM 4.0 integration with asterisk
Hello !
I am wondering if anyone has experiences with the integration of
Asterisk 1.4.19 into Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 ?
Or alternatively integration with Microsoft Office Communications
server (however trying to avoid this, if it isn't really necessary for
the integration).
I would be glad to receive any links or manuals on this topic, which
helped you to integrate it.
Kind regards,

winbind capabilities
Hi all:
I'm looking for a solution to integrate 150+ existing linux sysems into
an Active Directory (Win Server 2003) domain. These systems are
currently using NIS for directory/authenitication services, and all
users (2000+) have existing UIDs/GIDs that need to be maintained (due to
being spread out all over the place; we don't think we could do any kind
of controlled migration of this

Hum/bux on line
Rich Hi,
After Qwest pronounced my circuits as within spec. (yes, disconnected
from the house) I listened on the lines with my butt set. Clear of all
noise and hum. I then got my box of Cat3 and laid a circuit around the
outside of the house and into my lab. Still clear of all noise and hum.
I then connected the circuit to the Adtran and made a call. Lots of
hum and buzzz.
As I said,

Samba -- Just Do It!
As I get older, hopefully wiser, I try and look at ways I can make a
contribution to various causes that I believe in. Examples would incluce
my alma maters, various legal or political groups (that share or
advocate my views), or other groups of "right thinking" people, to name
a few. Of one in particular, open soucre comes to mind. And, within the
relm of open source, Samba in
