predict lmer
Hi,
I am using lmer to analyze habitat selection in wolverines using the
following model:
(me.fit.of <-
lmer(USED~1+STEP+ALT+ALT2+relM+relM:ALT+(1|ID)+(1|ID:TRKPT2),data=vdata,
control=list(usePQL=TRUE),family=poisson,method="Laplace"))
Here, the habitat selection is calaculated using a so-called discrete
choice model where each used location has a certain number of
alternatives which the animal could have chosen. Thes...

winbind name service required for active directory (ADS) authentication and group-based authorization?
...l, which I posted, and pre-loaded it on smbd, but libnss has been changed since then and it doesn't work any more...long story.)
Solution: ADS, perhaps?
I've read lots of documents and they seem to indicated that, when using ADS authentication (by which I mean security=ADS and the proper relm, etc.) winbind is NOT involved in the authentication process. It says smbd participates in Kerberos ticketing, like a normal "Domain Member", to authorize samba clients. (Details found here: http://us1.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/domain-member.html) I think means it...

weighted-ML estimates
Hi,
We are trying to calculate ML-parameter estimates of a mixed effects models
where the observations are weighted. The "weights" option in lmer() with
RELM=FALSE seems attractive. Does anyone know the mechanism it uses to
calculate weighted ML estimates? (Is there a paper?). Also, our model
includes a serial correlation structure(e.g. AR(1)) among the residuals. As
far as I know, no such "cor" option is available in lmer() unlike in nlme...

Microsoft CRM 4.0 integration with asterisk
Hello !
I am wondering if anyone has experiences with the integration of
Asterisk 1.4.19 into Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 ?
Or alternatively integration with Microsoft Office Communications
server (however trying to avoid this, if it isn't really necessary for
the integration).
I would be glad to receive any links or manuals on this topic, which
helped you to integrate it.
Kind regards,

winbind capabilities

where our helpdesk staff could create/maintain accounts and workstation
access lists using only Active Directory Users and Computers or other
windows managment tools. This is not a requirement, just a preference.
Now into the truely unkown relm:
We are investagating means for offering strong protection on our network
shares. By this, I mean enforcing permissions to the point where if a
user has not logged into that station with a username and password, then
they do not get to access any remote files belonging to that username.

Hum/bux on line
Rich Hi,
After Qwest pronounced my circuits as within spec. (yes, disconnected
from the house) I listened on the lines with my butt set. Clear of all
noise and hum. I then got my box of Cat3 and laid a circuit around the
outside of the house and into my lab. Still clear of all noise and hum.
I then connected the circuit to the Adtran and made a call. Lots of
hum and buzzz.
As I said,

Samba -- Just Do It!

my alma maters, various legal or political groups (that share or

relm of open source, Samba in particular.
We can all contribute in various ways. We can get involved. We can
contribute to the coding effort. We can contribute to the 2nd half of
the coding effort by shaking the bugs out of the system. We can help
others wanting knowledge about the product -- help folk...
