cronbachs alpha - score.items(psych) vs reliability(Rcmdr)
Dear all, I like the way the Rcmdr package computes reliability. E.g reliability(cov(d[,c("q1", "q2", "q3", "q4", "q5", "q6")], use="complete.obs")) will not only give me the alpha score, but also for each variable, alpha.score if deleted. However - when writing scripts it's very tireso...

Reliability between TCPonly and UDP for tinc?
If the concern is more about the reliability instead of throughput, should I add TCPonly = yes in the host configuration to make the VPN runs on TCP?

Reccomendation for reliable handsets
...ortunately I do not have direct access to the archives I am about to roll out Asterisk to a few companies and would like to hear your experiences about the various handsets/phones that are Asterisk compatible I am primarily looking for 2 options, the first being a cheaper model which will provide reliability whilst still maintaining a reasonable feature set, and a reliable model from the more expensive range with more features But the definite focus here is on reliability and ease of maintenance Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated; I would really like to hear your experiences/recommend...

[LLVMdev] [LNT] Question about results reliability in LNT infrustructure
...le in LNT? Specifically, how can I get the normalized performance improvement/regression by considering the stderr? Hi Daniel, Michael, Paul, do you happen to have some insights on this? Basically, the stddev shown when a run is compared to a previous run does not seem to be useful to measure the reliability of the results shown. We are looking for a good way/value to show the reliability of individual results in the UI. Do you have some experience, what a good measure of the reliability of test results is? Thanks, Tobias

[LLVMdev] [LNT] Question about results reliability in LNT infrustructure
Hi all, When we compare two testings, each of which is run with three samples, how would LNT show whether the comparison is reliable or not? I have seen that the function get_value_status in reporting/analysis.py uses a very simple algorithm to infer data status. For example, if abs(self.delta) <= (self.stddev * confidence_interval), then the data status is set as UNCHANGED. However, it

Samba/OpenLDAP reliability issue: backend experience needed
...experience would be helpful. We have a SLES9 PDC, running samba-3.0.14a, openldap 2.2.6 Sometimes, the OpenLDAP gets corrupted, no ideas why. It's a bad thing. We have 100+ computers, 300+ users, which shall get 350 computers and 800 users. What would you suggest in order to be reliable ? Reliability is more important than speed for us. I used to work with a bdb backend, had problems; the SuSE consultant told us to use ldbm, but it isn't any better. Any advice would be helpful since googleling gives mostly contradictory information about that. Kind regard, Gerd

* fax reliability between ISDN PRI and FXS ports
Hi, I am building for a customer an * solution that will use 2 Digium cards. 1 x TE110P (T1 ISDN PRI) 1 x TDM40B (4 analog ports, 2 for faxes, 2 for extensions) The system will be connected to the PSTN through the T1 ISDN PRI interface. All customer extensions will be SIP phones except 2 fax machines that will use the analog FXS ports on the TDM40B card. I have been investigating on this

Reliability between TCPonly and UDP for tinc?
...he upper level application have very limited tolerance to packet loss(like RDP application, I guess if the packet loss go to certain threshold, the connection will be lost). TINC/OpenVPN/IPsec/L2TP/<insert VPN tech of choice> should *NOT* be the place where you handle your network connection reliability If the upper level app/etc. can’t handle the packetloss(es), then you’ll have to either fix your network, or the upper level application, as TCP/IP already does retransmissions with packet losses, and since it’s just encapsulated over the vpn-tech-of-choice, it’s not the VPN-tech-of-choice that sh...

Computing a reliability index of a statistic with missing data
Hi All, I'd like to compute a kind of reliability index (RI) that would in a sense stand as a measure of reliability of a statistic (histogram etc) computed on a time serie with missing values. The final goal is that: RI=1 for a perfect reliability RI=0 for a total unreliability (no data at all as an extreme case...) The percentage of missing da...

FAX reliability
Hi, Most people using iaxmodem + HylaFAX or spandsp from an Asterisk application get satisfactory results for both transmitting and receiving FAXes. However, quite a few people find FAX receive is reliable, but FAX transmit can be flaky. Its box dependent. The cause of this has been known since the early days of spandsp. Asterisk + zaptel/dahdi is unable to produce a consistent audio stream

looking for a tool to tunnel ethernet reliable on internet.
Dear reader, im looking for a tool to tunnel ethernet reliable on internet. I have a set of devices do not themself have retransmission build in, the rely on a "wired" LAN. The all talk to a central host on a MAC to MAC basis. I want to bring the devices far away from the Host and link them up via internet, but packet drop on internet is my problem! The tinc is almost perfect for my

[LLVMdev] New -O3 Performance tester - Use hardware to get reliable numbers
Hi, I would like to announce a new set of LNT -O3 performance testers. In a discussion titled "Question about results reliability in LNT infrustructure" Anton suggested that one way to get statistically reliable test results from the LNT infrastructure is to use a larger sample size (5-10) as well as a more robust statistical test (Wilcoxon/Mann-Whitney). Another requirement to make the performance results we get fr...

mail spool filesystem
Hi! I?m about to migrate a system whith 5000 accounts whith (~ 500GB) from "postfix/courier-imap/maildrop/mysql" to a new hardware whith "postfix/dovecot/dovecot/mysql". I?ll make a separate partition (raid 1) for the mail spool (/var/spool/vmail) and want to now what type of filesystem to use on it to increase performance. I read that XFS is a good choice, but is not

New Package Reliability
Dear R useRs, A new package 'Reliability' is now available on CRAN. It is mainly a set of functions functions for estimating parameters in software reliability models. Only infinite failure models are implemented so far. This is the first version of the package. The canonical reference is: J.D. Musa, A. Iannino, and K. Okumoto. S...
