RFC: Release process changes
...s. The current process is documented here: https://llvm.org/docs/HowToReleaseLLVM.html There are two parts to this proposal. The first is a list of clarifications, which are things we are currently doing that aren't documented. The second is a list of changes which would actually modify how releases are currently managed. *** Proposed Clarifications *** ** Release manager is allowed to commit changes to the release branch without code owner approval. However, the release manager is encouraged to consult with code owners or patch reviewers for non-trivial changes. It's not...

[LLVMdev] comparing .o files from different build trees
I'm trying to write a script for checking whether the compiler recursed properly. rkotler at mipsswbrd002:~/slave/recurse3be/build$ find . -name "*.o" -exec cmp '{}' ../../recurse2be/build/'{}' \; |& tee foo.txt Is anyone else doing this? There 2 compilers, recurse 2 and recurse3 that in principle should be identical. Obviously if there is date and time

4.0.1 Release Schedule + Need feedback for improving stable releases
...to the stable release process, but first, here is a proposed schedule for the 4.0.1 release. May 1, 2017 -rc1 May 22, 2017 Deadline for submitting merge request May 29, 2017 Deadline for merging changes. June 3, 2017 -rc2 June 10, 2017 Final Release This is slightly different from previous stable releases in that we are doing an early -rc1 release. This matches what we do for major releases, and I think it will help us get more feedback from testers sooner. There is now a script in utils/release, called merge-request.sh, which you can use to submit merge requests to bugzilla. It's recommend t...

New Release Model
Effective today, Shorewall is adopting a new release model which is patterned after the one used in the Linux Kernel. 1. Releases continue to have a three-level identification x.y.z (e.g., 2.0.3). 2. The first two levels (x.y) designate the Major Release Number (e.g., 2.0) 3. The third level (z) designates the Minor Release Number. 4. Even numbered major releases (e.g., 1.4, 2.0, 2.2, ...) are Stable Releases....

Shorewall Release Model
The current Shorewall release model has the following characteristics: a) The last two major releases are supported. b) Only the latest major release is actively developed. c) Bug fixes are available for the prior major release but only against the last minor release. d) The last major release is advertised as the "Current Release". I''m thinking of switching to a model that is...

[LLVMdev] LLVM 3.4 stable releases
Hi, I would like to try again to do stable releases for LLVM 3.4. Even though we were unsuccessful with stable releases for LLVM 3.3, I learned some things going through the process, which I think will increase the chance for success with LLVM 3.4. So, here is my TODO list for a successful 3.4.1 release: 1. Get volunteers to help This is probably...

Release 3.12: Scope and calendar!
Hi, Here are some top reminders for the 3.12 release: 1) When 3.12 is released 3.8 will be EOL'd, hence users are encouraged to prepare for the same as per the calendar posted here. 2) 3.12 is a long term maintenance (LTM) release, and potentially the last in the 3.x line of Gluster! 3) From this release onward, the feature freeze date is moved ~45 days in advance, before the release.

It is just the way it is and how it will be. It has been this way since the original CentOS 7 release and it is not ever changing. Thanks, Jo...

[3.9 Release] Release Candidate 2 has been tagged
Dear testers, 3.9.0-rc2 was just tagged from the 3.9 branch at r279183. This is a release candidate in the very real sense that if nothing new comes up, this is be what the final release looks like. There are currently no open release blockers, and no patches in my merge-queue. Please build, test, and upload binaries to the sftp. Let me know how everything goes. >From this point, the branch
