Centos 6.2 Postfix - forward through SMTP smarthost with SMTP-AUTH
Hi All,
I have set up three servers in a development environment. Via CR they're
updated to Centos 6.2
It appears that these servers have postfix installed on them by default,
which unfortunately I'm not very well acquainted with.
All I want is a quick and dirty way to enable these hosts to send email
through my own SMTP host.
My (sendmail) SMTP host uses SMTP AUTH on a non-standard

Postfix won't relay after update to CentOS 4.4
...r updating
it to 4.4 Before the update, I did not have any problems.
My ISP requires that email clients must authenticate to their mail
servers before mail can be sent out. I setup smtp auth to get postfix
to relay mail through the ISP's mail servers. Here's my config:
main.cf
--------
relayhost = [smtp.broadband.rogers.com]
smtp_sasl_auth_enable = yes
smtp_sasl_password_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/sasl_passwd
smtp_sasl_security_options =
sasl_passwd
---------------
smtp.broadband.rogers.com blah at blah.com:password
I've done the usual run through of config files after an update,...

Samba AD Internal DNS, Postfix & Email Relay
Is there an extra step which must be taken to get postfix
to deliver email via a relay host when the postfix machine
is pointing to an samba internal DNS?
I did a test setup using a public DNS server and it worked.
Same setup where the machine (Debian 9) is pointing to a
samba DNS doesn't work. The errors in the postfix log
seem to be DNS related.
Thanks,

Lightweight MTA for XEN CentOS guests
...ould crash or be down for maintenance or
other reason.
As far as sendmail, it is simple to switch off the sendmail daemon and
only run the queuing submission agent:
1) edit /etc/sysconfig/sendmail and set
"DAEMON=no"
2) edit /etc/mail/submit.mc and set
FEATURE(`msp', `[IP.of.relayhost]')dnl
and of course add an alias for root.
Does anyone on this list have experience running a minimal MTA? What
other options/software should I be looking at? Any other insights,
suggestions or insights?
Both the Dom0 and guests are CentOS 5.2.
Thanks in advance,
Brett

Sendmail conf
A long time ago someone helped me with setting up sendmail to simply queue
and relay mail. They suggested:
1) edit /etc/sysconfig/sendmail and set
"DAEMON=no"
2) edit /etc/mail/submit.mc and set
FEATURE(`msp', `[IP.of.relayhost]')dnl
Given the sendmail-cf RPM is already installed a "service sendmail
restart" is enough to a light, direct submitting sendmail setup.
How does one rewrite all mail to one specific address so it can be filtered
by a user that receives all mail for this host? Can there be a rule i...

OT: Large corporate email systems - Exchange vs open source *nix based
...ystems, including even commercial *nix groupware based
systems like Zimbra, as well as plain mail systems like dovecot, or
cyrus or courier.
I know that many (if they are smart) Admins that do use Exchange
internally will use postfix (or something else linux/unix based) in
front of it as their relayhost (for both inbound and outbound), so just
counting the number of publicly accessible smtp servers won't be a good
gauge.
Does anyone know of any decent non-biased studies that have been done,
hopefully relatively recently (last few years) that provide such a
comparison?
Thanks,

Yes. You?ll want to use your favorite search engine to look up "centos postfix relayhost sasl?. Ignore any of the wiki.centos.org <http://wiki.centos.org/> links, they?re so out of date its embarrassing. (for example, the HowTos/postfix_sasl_relayhost wiki page tells you to use stunnel and an init service downloaded from a bugzilla post!)
The important thing is you?ll set up sm...

Postfix config problem w/ tls
I have followed the guides on setting up postfix relay to my account at
network solutions.
I added these to main.cf:
inet_interfaces = localhost
relayhost = [mail.mydomain.com]:587
smtp_sasl_auth_enable = yes
smtp_sasl_security_options = noanonymous
smtp_sasl_password_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/sasl_password
smtp_use_tls = yes
smtp_tls_CAfile = /etc/pki/tls/certs/sendmail.pem
The username and password are correct, and all these options work fine

Dovecot docker auto-responder - delegate to external SMTP
...utgoing
(autoresponder) mails to the SMTP on IP 192.168.10.22.
The postfix image is configured in a way that certain IPs are allowed to
send mails without authentication. So on postfix side I am set.
Currently I did a quickfix: I added postfix to dovecot image and
configured postfix to use the relayhost 192.168.10.22 for mailing. This
works, still I would prefer having the dovecot image not containing an
postfix SMTP.
Thanks

I'm trying to understand how to deliver mail to an address locally which
is popped from my isps email account.
I access and keep these emails backed up on dovecot and use postfix smtp

The problem is that while fetchmail uses dovecot lda directly, postfix
can't include my isps domain in its $mydestination because I won't be
able to send mail to other users in that
