thread taskq / unp_gc() using 100% cpu and stalling unix socket IPC
Hi there We have a pair of servers running FreeBSD 9.1-RC3 that act as transparent layer 7 loadbalancer (relayd) and pop/imap proxy (dovecot). Only one of them is active at a given time, it's a failover setup. From time to time the active one gets in a state in which the 'thread taskq' thread uses up 100% of one cpu on its own, like here: ---- PID USERNAME PRI NICE SIZE RES STATE C...

Redundant Database, Pgsql ?
Yes, that looks nice, I am going to try that too. Because every other option is based on some other software, like relayd or nginx, it is all possible, but adds complexity. The best would be to have it inside connection string. Load balancing...
Hi All, Can anyone help me hash out how best to load balance a website that is getting considerable traffic? In the past I only have experience with BigIP where you have a load balancing device that keeps track and send traffic to the best server possible at the time. This was a proprietary system that I think was something Dell rebranded. Right now, the whole site is is 400gb of video, HTML5,

Why Are You Using FreeBSD?
Hi Everyone, This is off-topic, so please feel free to disregard it, but I'm sending it to this list in the hope that it will reach a largish number of users. I am currently looking at updating some of our advocacy material (which advertises exciting new features like SMP support), and before I do I'd like to get a better feel for why the rest of you are using FreeBSD.
