The locale-relatet environment describes seting of the client terminal.
It is very useful thet the server side uses the same environment for
the terminal communication.

...tting corrupted... and when loading a file from the

One or two problmes? Get the file corrupted one time and an other
time the NT Client freeze? Gets the file corrupted when you
reset/reboot/... the frozen NT client?
The freezing of the NT clients may be relateted to a locking problem
on the NFS-mount. Try if it hapens when you turn of locking in
smb.conf. Try to use the option "nolock" for the NFS mount.
