Backup and reinstall a CentOS server
I've got a CentOS server that crashes due to a bad hard disk. I have got a spare disk and need to format and reinstall CentOS from the SERVER CD. Backup and reinstall is a major PITA because of some of the customisations that I've done e.g. the DNS Server is set to log queries (the default does not do this). Any tips on :-

reinstalling SIGCHLD handler before wait()
HP-UX 11 is looping on SIGCHLD/sigchld_handler2() when exiting a
protocol 2 session apparently because we don't call wait before
reinstalling the handler. Any thoughts on this issue or how to address
it?

Installing manpages
According to the Samba documentation, the manpages are supposed to be
installed with Samba. Quote:
docs/manpages: You don't need to worry about these yet; during the
installation, the files will be installed so that you can use the man
command to read them. But you can take a look in the directory to see
which manpages are available.
My problem:

Backing up and Importing IMAP folders
I am running Dovecot with Postfix on a FreeBSD machine. There are
problems with the drive and I cannot depend on it. Dovecot saves all
mail in IMAP format. I want to back up the mail folders, install a new
HD, install the latest FreeBSD OS and then reinstall my programs.
Reinstalling Dovecot is simple, but how do I reinstall the IMAP
folders? Can Dovecot backup the folders onto a CD and then

Reinstall ruby''s MySQL Library on OS X Server
Hello,
I am running OS X Server version 10.4.6 and I already have some MySQL
databases working on the server. I install the RubyGem recently,
however, it does not work correctly with the default MySQL.
I am wondering if anybody can shed some light on:
1): how to reinstall ruby''s mysql library on the OS X server,
2): Is it possible to keep the old database files intact while

Older messages not showing up after reinstall
I reinstalled Ubuntu, keeping my maildir directories. Messages older than
the date of reinstall are not being served by dovecot. The messages show up
normally in my MUA if I load the maildir directory directly.
I assume there is a file somewhere where dovecot is keeping a list of seen
messages which I need to reset. The old messages appear to be in
dovecot-uidlist. I tried moving dovecot.index*

After uninstalling and reinstalling, no Wine folders
Originally installed Wine [9.33] from the Ubuntu repository. After
adding the WineHQ repository, I was upgraded to 9.49. Since it was an
upgrade, the folders installed by 9.33 were retained in place of those
9.49 would have installed if it were the first installation.
I decided to make my installation more "up-to-date" by uninstalling and
reinstalling. I've uninstalled and

Migrating to RAID
I have CentOS 4.x installed on a single 500GB SATA drive. Drive is
about 10 percent used. I would like to migrate to software RAID 5
without reinstalling the OS. Was thinking 3 500GB drives. Is that
possible or must I reinstall?

Odd random roaming profile issues
We are currently using samba and openLDAP to enable our users to have
roaming profiles on our domain network. We have one primary domain
controller and 7 "home servers" at the various locations that serve the
profiles and such. The problem is that randomly various users are unable
to load their profile and windows just gives them a temporary profile.
This mostly happens on vista

Upgrade
I am currently running CentOS 4.5 (which, through many Yum updates) now appears to be CentOD 4.8.
4.8 is still rather old, but I havbe lots of stuff (files and stuff installed). I would like to install Fedora but I am worried about losing
all the stuff I have. I would have to back everything up, uninstall/reinstall
things, etc. I am wondering whether there is some way to upgrade to Fedora
