Could the Odds represent weight in Generalized Linear Model?
Hello all, I'm sorry if my question seems basic. Im studying a responses (Yes,No) in a survey and, thanks to GLM I obtain the following relation with my variables : (Yes,No)~ ?0 + Age We note this this certain type of (Yes,No) response is linked to age (p<0.05 in glm) . After that we calculated : model1=glm(cbind(Yes,No) ~ Age + Times + Type, family=binomial) summary(model1)

Could the Odds represent weight in Generalized Linear Model?
Dear Lenny, You can do this by using Age as an offset factor. dataset$wAge <- dataset$Age * 1.02 glm(cbind(Yes,No) ~ offset(wAge) + Times + Type, family=binomial, data = dataset) Best regards, ir. Could the Odds represent weight in Generalized Linear Model?
Dear Thierry, Thanks a lot for this answer, I mean i want to obtain such model *Behavior1 = ?0+?1*Age* , the purpose is to obtain *?1*. I want to be sure that the odds value could be the ?1. Or how to calculate it ? Thanks again for your precious help. Lenny

quota and selinux on centos 6.5
??? Hi, I'm facing a challenge with selinux and because I don't got an explanation elsewhere, I'm trying to explain here. I have decided to mount /var/spool/cron on a separate partition? and apply quota for regular users. But quotacheck replyes with a "permission denied" . quotacheck: Cannot create new quotafile /var/spool/cron/aquota.user.new:

Hello all, I have a question. I have an asterisk box setup with an x100p card installed. I have about 3 VoIP phones connected to it. The x100p is connected to my pots line. I also have regular phones connected the the pots line as well like most normal people would. When I get an incomming call all the regular phones ring and my VoIP phones ring. This is good. My question is this. Say

Small regular expression question
I''m looking to write a regular expression that will match valid URLs. My problem is that it almost works, except it accepts URLs with / in the middle of them, suchs as: http://www.ruby/rails.com It looks (to me) like my regular expression should not match strings like that, but it does. Here is the regular expression:

[LLVMdev] Forcing the Interpreter segfaults
In my case, I am working on a posix regular expression library that uses LLVM to execute a regular expression. Each regular expression is a very small sets of code and is faster to interpret than to JIT then execute. I wanted to JIT only when the regular expression is executed more than 20 times. The benchmarks I have run show that my library is amzingly fast to execute a regular expression

matrix.csr %*% matrix --> matrix
When a sparse matrix is multiplied by a regular one, the result is usually not sparse. However, when matrix.csr is multiplied by a regular matrix in R, a matrix.csr is produced. Is there a way to avoid this? Thanks! -- Sam Steingold (http://sds.podval.org/) on Ubuntu 12.04 (precise) X 11.0.11103000 http://www.childpsy.net/ http://palestinefacts.org

Hi all, Originally tried to post this without being subscribed, apologies if the list gets this twice. One of my users has a problem with many of his calls via my Asterisk? server. He describes the problem as having the sound slowly fade out and then fade back at a regular frequency. Has anyone experienced this before? Can you suggest a potential cause? Escaping regular expressions
Hi all, Is there a method for escaping strings to be used regular expressions? i.e. if I have a user supplied string that I'd like to use as a fixed component is there a method that will turn (e.g.) ".$^" into "\\.\\$\\^" ? Thanks, Hadley -- http://had.co.nz/

logrotate and regular expressions
I am trying to use logrotate to rotate our web logs for our various vhosted sites to cut down on space and rotate out old logs that are not necessary to keep around personally. What Im curious to find out, is how supported extended regular expressions is within the logrotate.conf file. More specifically, will logrotate be smart enough to decipher the following:

ext3 fs: no userspace writes == no disk writes ?
Hello, I have a question about ext3 write activity. I am considering using an ext3 fs on a CompactFlash disk for my data-logging application (power can disapear anytime). The quantity & frequency of the data logged itself is not a problem at all considering flash wear. But I'm a bit worried about the kernel/ext3 doing regular writes by itself even when there are no userspace writes.

flock problems with index files and passwd-file
While experimenting a bit, I found that for some reason, locking indexes with flock is problematic, but only if user is taken from passwd-file. The host system is openbsd 3.9, dovecot's configuration is added at the bottom. Authentication is from two places - first from mentioned passwd-file, then from passwd file using bsdauth (in this case, there're no problems with flock). So, if

Ext 2/3 overwriting remnant data & use of data blocks - security
Greetings all- I am conducting security testing on a device that uses Linux 2.4 with ext3. I am testing secure overwrite of remnant data in temporary files, but have run into a real good stumpper in the way Ext allocates data blocks. I've got 10 yrs of *NIX behind me, several with Linux, and this has really got me perplexed as I can't find any documentation explaining the subject
