discriminant function
How can I extract the linear discriminant functions resulting from a LDA
analysis?
The coefficients are listed as a result from the analysis but I have not
found a way to extract these programmatically. No refrences in the
archives were found.
Thank you very much,

using user-supplied derivatives in rgenoud
I have been using the rgenoud package for a nonlinear least-squares
problem with lots of local minima, and it works very well but takes lots
of time. According to the article refrenced in the documentation, the
original GENOUD-software by the same authors seems to allow for
user-supplied analytical derivatives instead of numerical approximations,
which would probably save some time. Does anybody

question about puppetd listen setting
On the Configuration refrence page the listen setting is descriped thusly:
listen
Whether puppetd should listen for connections. If this is true, then
by default only the runner server is started, which allows remote
authorized and authenticated nodes to connect and trigger puppetd
runs.
The question is when listen is set to true, does puppetd only listen
for remote calls or will it listen for

0.10.2 release with win32 gem
Hey all,
I''ve just released Ferret version 0.10.2. It is mostly just a bug fix
release. The only change is that a highlight method has been added to
Ferret::Index::Index. Please try it out and let me know what you
think.
The big news for this release is that there is also a binary win32 gem
included. This is the first time I''ve build a gem like this so please
let me know if

dom movement methods, unattached objects
Hey guys
I have a bunch of element fragments (ie this might be a div, with children
of an image, another div) etc which aren''t attached to the document yet..
and can''t seem to call the dom manipulation methods on them:
down(''img.icon'') returns undefined but if I look at the innerHTML of the
element, there is clearly an image there with that class.

Relationship not working
...es" and in the Race model I
have: "belongs_to :course".
So far so good?
Well when I list the races I want a column that shows the course it
belongs to as well as the data in the race table. Having looked at the
Rolling with Rails tutorial for help it should simply be a case of
refrencing it like: "race.course.name".
However I''m getting an error that appears as though the relationship
doesn''t exist as it displays:
"You have a nil object when you didn''t expect it!
The error occured while evaluating nil.name"
I''d be very grate...

Sound & Vision codec comparison article
I just found this link on slashdot:
http://www.soundandvisionmag.com/SoundAndVision/FrameSet/0,1670,_sl_SoundAndVision_sl_Article_sl_0_cm_1653_cm_130_2020_1_cm_00,00.html
It is a Sept 1999 article describing some very detailed, double blind
listening tests comparing PAC(Lucent), MP3(FhG) and MS audio at
128kbs. In typical microsoft fashon, MS audio is the clear looser
despite all their hype.
