Protect Icecast Admin/Run on different port?
Hi list, We're new to Icecast and we're looking at securing the admin functions. I've trawled the docs but it's not clear to me if we are able to run this on a different TCP port to the streams themselves. Has anyone with a little more experience any insight into this? Thanks, David.

icecast2 will not start from the /etc/init.d
I can start it fine from the command line using icecast -c icecast.xml we have ver 2.4. When I try and start it using /etc/init.d/icecast2 start it says [ ok ] Starting icecast2 (via systemctl): icecast2.service. but it actually doesn't start. nothing in the error logs, nothing in syslog. Any ideas would be appreciated. Nick

multiple icecast server instances on debian system
hello, i am trying to have multiple server instances on different ports on the same debian server. i thought if i had (along side the standard server files): /etc/icecast2/icecast+.xml config file (with changed port number) /etc/default/icecast+ pointing to new config file new log files with 777 permissions (for the sake of testing) and an /etc/init.d/icecast2+ file to start it all up

EZStream: Can it stream a URL?
Additional to my earlier post, I was also thinking of a single broadcast relay, but it's not possible to start it and stop it on demand. One way around this might be to load a special Icecast XML with the relay in it at the program's broadcast time, then reload the regular one when the relayed program ends. Klugey, but it could work I suppose. On Thu, 08 Oct 2015 06:20:47 +0000, you

Icecast and Streamed Audio Formats
So that means files with metadata in them don't get that metadata streamed? Too bad that. This had potential. Relays Ending With "Disconnecting source due to socket timeout"
Sorry to leave that out. My connections typically last 2-6 hours before the socket timeout error. The streams are MP3, either 64KBPS or 128KBPS. Nathan also asked about firewalls. My Windows Firewall is off, and my machine's antivirus doesn't have a firewall feature. I don't think there's any firewall in play here. Before emailing the list, I looked through several months of

Icecast 2.4x Metadata doesn't clear if net file has none
I don't know if I have something set wrong in icecast.xml or not, but on my old server (version forgotten, installed 2009), if I streamed two files with the first one having metadata present but the second had none, Icecast wouldn't stream anything when the second file streamed. On my 4.21 server, when the second file streams, it shows metadata left over from the first file. I just

OggFLAC metadata support
Hello, I'm currently using Liquidsoap to stream a group of files to Icecast. The stream is sent to Icecast in a few different formats (MP3,HE-AAC v2,OggFlac,OggOpus). The "Current Song" metadata is correctly displayed for the MP3 and the AAC stream, but not the OggFLAC or OggOpus stream. I see a few entries in the Icecast forums, but it does look like FLAC metadata support never

Pathing syntax for icecast.xml in Windows
Hi, Icecast.xml shows a sample path to a mountpoint fallback file as <fallback-mount>/example2.ogg</fallback-mount> Under Windows, will this next work? <fallback-mount>"C:\Users\username\Desktop\foldername\subfoldername\fallback.mp3"</fallback-mount> Also, the usage of a fallback mount is only shown in the sample icecast.xml under a commented-out section,

Change fallback mount file automatically?
Oh -- then I did not understand the documentation. fallback-mount This optional value specifies a mountpoint that clients are automatically moved to if the source shuts down or is not streaming at the time a listener connects. Only one can be listed in each mount and should refer to another mountpoint on the same server that is streaming in the _same streaming format_. I was thinking that

Adding additional mount info to xsl stylesheet
The following patch attempts to make the source client user agent and the max listener client connection duration information available to (icecast 2.3.2) xsl stylesheets. Will there be any memory leak issues in the lower level functions like the acl, etc. when the source is disconnected, when servicing queries, or otherwise?
