Ices-0.2.2, Lame 3.89b, FreeBSD 4.4-STABLE
I'm having more than a bit of trouble getting Ices installed with Lame support (I've been running it without Lame support for a couple of months now without much trouble. But with Lame it's not compiling. It's recognizing the libraries in the ./configure stage. gmake ends with these errors: gmake[3]: Entering directory `/usr/local/src/ices-0.2.2/src' gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I.

Can I make spss.get reencode from Windows-1252?
Hi all. I have an SPSS file that I'm loading into R with the Hmisc spss.get function. The trouble is that the SPSS file uses the Windows-1252 character set (which I think is the default for SPSS on Windows) instead of plain-ol' Latin-1, and since spss.get doesn't allow me to pass the "reencode" option to read.spss, any characters in Windows-1252 that are not a part of Latin-1

Compiling errors by reencode
Hi there, I hope you can help me: I want to compile the newest ices with reencode and use lame3.70. At the 'configure' he checks successfully for 'lame decode in lmp3lame'. But when I do a 'make', I have the following message: gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I.. -I../resolver -I../thread -I../libshout -I/tmp/Download/lame3.70 -I/usr/lib/perl5/5.00503/i586-linux/CORE

VBR reencoding @128k problem
I did some further investigating into this issue and here's what I found: It appears somewhere between ices0.1.0 and ices 0.2.0 is where the "bug" (for lack of a better term) was introduced that i'm noticing. When I compile ices0.2.0 w/lame 3.89beta, the VBR is *NOT* reencoded, but instead streamed out at full VBR bitrate(s). However, when using ices0.1.0 w/lame 3.89beta, it

ices 0.2.2 does not reencode mp3s
I recently upgraded ices from 0.1.0 to 0.2.2. I have found that it is not reencoding my mp3 stream, even though I have it configured to. This is on a RedHat linux 7.0 system, kernel 2.4.11 ices build commands: ./configure --with-perl --with-lame \ --with-lame-includes=/usr/local/src/lame-3.89/include \ --with-lame-libraries=/usr/local/src/lame-3.89/libmp3lame/.libs gmake

Multiple Stream? Request for Config
Greeting all -- I'm having some problems setting up multiple streams with iceS, for example, a hi-bandwidth and lo-bandwidth stream of the same audio. reencoding OGG Vorbis
Hi! Inspired by the discussion about mixing Vorbis streams and so on I came to the question whether Vorbisstreams can be, just like MP3, reencoded without further loss. As I heard, and I am pretty sure that it's true, MP3 files can be decoded and reencoded unlimited times without further quality loss (of course the same encoder with the same preferences has to be used all the time). Is this

Ices2 - reencoding ogg?
Ok so I'm up and riding with Icecast2 and ices2, thanks for all of you who pointed me in the right directon. I can stream fine without reencoding but when I change the nominal-bitrate tag its not happy. Comments in the xml file say: <!-- Live encoding/reencoding: Currrently, the parameters given here for encoding MUST match the input data for channels and sample rate. That restriction

I prefer 3.88, it's more clean, but with the 3.86 > that the reencoding works. How did you get it to build? ices 0.1.0 explicitly checks version info, and besides that makes library calls that don't exist in 3.86. you are

reencode scripts if anyone is interested
I decided to make a few shell scripts that can be used to connect to icecast, decode/reencode a stream, and then send the result back to icecast. I guess this can be done with liveice, but this seemed like a simpler solution for my needs. I have it triggered by a cgi script that i click on when at work and want to listen to my tunes at a lower, more reliable bitrate. There are basically

Lame, Bitrates, ReEncoding I
I'd like to use the Bitrate and Reencode features of ices and understand I must recompile with lamelib. However, it's Very Unclear where to begin here. This is noted in the ices-0.2.3 INSTALL file: I installed lame as a debian package so lame.h is in /usr/include/lame/lame.h and libmp3lame.a is in /usr/lib. configure finds everything automatically. <p>I assume we
