io provider and files in a forceddirectio mounted filesystem
..., @elapsed); } #------------------------------------------------------------------ The Oracle dbase its files all reside in filesystems. The redo is on a directio mounted filesystem. The output I get when running this script tells me all the filenames (including the device names) except for the redolog files! Remounting the filesystem that holds the redolog files without the directio option however ''solves'' this. Without the directio option the redolog files are listed by name too. Why is it that mounting a filesystem with the direcio option disables dtrace its ability to s...

just fyi
remember that even tho you have a filesystem etc it's always good to have seperate partitions for stuff. eg don't put all your redologs and mirrors on the same partition or don't put your archives on the same partition as data. this is not just for ocfs, but just .. common sense I think to split stuff up.

A couple more minor questions about OCFS and RHE L3
...on-contiguous aio problem that you have described. We weren't sure if it would result in an immediate failure, or if it would trigger silent corruption that we wouldn't notice until much later. We are also considering the possibility of using OCFS for our datafiles and raw devices for the redologs. In theory that ought to eliminate the problem entirely. It's easy enough to reconstruct individual logfiles with dd, but I'd be worried that someone might forget to do that while building a new database or restoring a dataset from backups. Anyway, I wanted to thank you and Sunil again...

[ocfs2-announce] OCFS2 1.4.10-1 released
...RHEL5/ COMPATIBILITY This release is fully compatible with earlier releases of OCFS2 1.4. Users can upgrade their nodes to the new version in a rolling manner. RECOMMENDATION This is just to remind users to add the "noatime" mount option to the mounts that hold the Oracle datafiles, redologs, archivelogs, voting file, etc. This is for OCFS2 1.4 only. WHAT'S CHANGED This release includes bug fixes, applicable backports from mainline and a new feature discontiguous block group. The new feature allows block groups to allocate discontiguous groups when contiguous region is not a...

FW: [Ocfs2-announce] OCFS2 1.4.7-1 and OCFS2 Tools 1.4.4-1 released
...is on-disk compatible with OCFS2 1.2.x. Users can install the software and mount the older volumes as-is. However, a rolling upgrade from 1.2 to 1.4 will not work. RECOMMENDATION This is just to remind users to add the "noatime" mount option to the mounts that hold the Oracle datafiles, redologs, archivelogs, voting file, etc. This is for OCFS2 1.4 only. WHAT'S CHANGED This release includes mostly bug fixes. The one new feature we've added is not much of one. It allows users to change the fence method from the default of machine reset to panic. This was requested by some develo...

Looking for help on 2 items...
I am pretty new to Dtrace but use the Dtrace Toolkit when trying to troubleshoot I/O issues On Oracle. I am looking for help on how to do the following: I am trying to answer whether adding more HBA Cards/ports would be effective. To do this, I need to know the i/o''s per second As well as total bandwidth per second. Has anyone done this before? Does anyone have any other ideas on how
