pre-newbie - some basic questions...
...y insights... with a new business, a 3 year-old, a 1 year old and a very pregnant wife - I don't have a lot of time to experiment with new ideas :) So I'm trying to really get a hadle on everything before I decide to invest a lot of time trying to make this work...

outbound IAX calls bog down DSL
...meg SDSL) and it seems like there should be enough
bandwidth to handle one GSM (and iLBC on the IAX leg) encoded call... It
just seems like the calls out to nufone are sucking up WAY more bandwidth
than they should... sorry for the long post... any thougts would be greatly
appreciated.

install help - make error
...ems... I'm running an old 166MMX processor with 50megs RAM... SuSE 8.1
distro...
when I make clean ; make install in the /usr/src/asterisk dir, I get a "error:
termcap support not found". the termcap libraries are installed. Anyone run
into this before?

call "load balancing"
...ferent ISPs) - so, is there any way to get
asterisk to route calls based on the quality of a connection at any
given time? If I had 2 DSL connections and Asterisk is registered to
2-3 different service providers - can asterisk do some sort of "load
balancing" of calls?

Netopia SDSL modem w/ IAX2 calls...
...this includes web traffic, UDP packets for the for VPN, ftp,
etc... SDSL modem is a Netopia R7100-C. Anyone ever seen or heard of
anything like this??? Thanks for your patience with me, I'm doing a ton of
googling and testing but I can't seem to get any answers...

Anyone else use Audacity for prompts?
I am using Audacity to record some voice prompts.
The .wav files I'm producing are of stellar quality. However, once I
turn them into .gsm, they sound buzzy and muffled.
I know that some of this comes with the territory, but I wonder if there
is anyone out there who does this routinely, and who can advise me as to
the MO I could use that results in the highest quality in the resulting
